Supervision of Metals Analysis Section of the Applied Technology Analytical Water Laboratory


  • Supervise water laboratory spectroscopy section and personnel

  • Provide training for associates

  • Ensure accuracy of sample results, maintaining quality control data and metrics

  • Consult with field representatives on results

  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analyses on aqueous samples using various laboratory instrumentation

  • Maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation and/or place service calls

  • Maintain and report data


  • Keep inventory or laboratory supplies and order as necessary

  • Maintain and clean laboratory working spaces and equipment

  • Adhere to chemical hygiene plan

  • Assume essential duties of Analytical Laboratory manager in their absence

  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements


  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related science degree; 5 or more years’ experience working in a laboratory environment performing chemical analysis and/or research; hands on experience of analytical instrumentation and techniques
  • Two or more years’ experience in supervising personnel and leading technical project teams
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating duties with the overall work flow of the lab

  • Technical, Analytical skills and business knowledge

  • Communication and Interpersonal skills; Teamwork and leadership 

  • Organizational skills; Self-management

  • Basic Chemistry techniques such as the use of hand held meters and apparatus

  • Working Knowledge of Analytical techniques such as Atomic Spectroscopy and Chromatography

  • Troubleshooting process flow of instrumentation

  • Understanding of Laboratory Information Management Systems(LIMS)

  • Safe Laboratory Practice and Procedures
