Description

Location: DFW area - Coppell, TX  

The Repair Center Technician will be responsible for working at the direction of the Repair Center Supervisor/Manager to repair, certify and/or reclaim instruments, parts, and assemblies via established Repair Center procedures and standard work. The Repair Center Technician helps generate cost-savings to the service organization by reclaiming spare parts and assemblies from non-resale instruments to support a lower-cost service contract and warranty service business model, and by processing Service Certified instruments that will be repaired, cleaned, tuned, and calibrated and made available for resale. The Technician will ensure all individual work performed adheres to published procedures and practices and is of the highest quality to eliminate the need for rework or DOA returns.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Generate cost savings to the Service Organization by processing Service Certified instruments for resale, and non-resale instruments into R parts stock for reuse. Maintains a high-quality focus to all activities. 
  • Help with process improvements by considering ways to improve effectiveness and productivity based on GEMBA activities.
  • Perform troubleshooting, cleaning, and testing of products under the direction of senior staff.
  • Continually develops skills through attendance and participation at in-house training programs, local mentoring from Supervisor and peers, and via self-study.
  • Maintains personal and shared tools and measuring devices to ensure they are fully accounted for, operational, and are meeting facility needs.
  • Assist with the development and testing of processes and standard work for Repair Center activities.
  • Adhere to all environmental, health, and safety protocols ensuring a safe and fully compliant workplace.

Job Requirements



Qualifications

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: 
  • Vocational/Technical schooling, Associates degree in a Life Sciences or Engineering discipline, and/or equivalent work experience (complex electronic/electromechanical systems as a Technician, Field Service Engineer or related job category)

Additional Requirements: 
  • Solid mechanical, electro-mechanical, and/or electronics troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to follow complex written and verbal instructions and procedures
  • Ability and willingness to lift to 50 lbs.
  • Requires ability to walk, climb, stand, carry materials, stoop, kneel, and bend at waist.
  • Must be able to climb a minimum 8-foot ladder
  • Exposed to moving parts, electricity, and chemicals that require adherence to established safety protocols.
  • Some limited travel, primarily for job training
  • Prior experience with Life Science equipment, Mass Spectrometry, HPLC, or High vacuum systems a big plus
