Description

General Summary

As a member of a global Technical Support Team, Phenomenex Technical Specialists will provide problem solving, troubleshooting, and applications assistance for customers world-wide in the fields of chromatography and sample preparation. Problem resolution will be driven by diagnosing product-related issues and technical inquiries, while guiding users through step-by-step solutions to their separations challenges.  Other key points:

  • Comfortable delivering new hire technical training and continuous education to current staff
  • Customer visits for presentations and technical seminars, traveling mostly domestic, occasionally international
  • Industries supported include - biopharmaceutical, life sciences, clinical, food safety, with an emphasis on the environmental, and petrochemical industries

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide expert opinion on applications, interpret Gas Chromatographic data, troubleshoot and solve chromatographic issues
  • Educate sales team on latest trends in chromatography and current products through training and evaluation
  • Provide technical support globally for all HPLC, GC, and Sample Preparation products.
  • Creatively solves problems and develops customer-oriented solutions.
  • Design and develop analytical applications for Phenomenex chromatographic products and present findings at scientific conferences, webinars, and customer sites
  • Write scientific articles, expert opinion and technical tips on chromatography to publish in Phenomenex website and in scientific journals
  • Possesses a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Communicates clearly (written and oral) with Sales, Customers, and others

Job Requirements

 

  • B.S. or M.S. in Chemistry or Biochemistry with 3 years chromatography experience or Ph.D. in Chemistry/ Analytical Chemistry with chromatography experience is required.
  • A strong theoretical foundation in Gas Chromatography and hands on experience in advanced Gas Chromatographic instrumentation like GC MS and GC MS/MS.
  • Strong fundamental general Chemistry knowledge, as well as a thorough understanding of experimental design and troubleshooting workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with other chromatography and sample preparation techniques is highly desirable.
