        As a systems and firmware engineer in our product development department you will use your creativity, firmware and systems engineering skills to sustain, improve and develop instruments that help scientists unravel the complexities of cell biology.  Challenges will range from sustaining established product designs to translating market needs into new product concepts.  Visit to explore our broad range of life science laboratory instrumentation products. You will be a generalist, handling whatever comes your way at the intersection of code and hardware.


        Your first year’s objectives may include the following:

        • Work with optical, mechanical and electrical engineers to create a next-gen laser autofocus system.

        • Develop system/firmware/software requirements and proof-of-concept for a new product.

        • Update and validate the development environment for an embedded system.

        Job Requirements


        A track record of success in writing firmware or software for 10+ commercial products
      • Treads lightly in legacy code; creates sustainable code.

      • Proficient in FMEA, requirements development, tracking, verification planning and execution

      • Intelligence, common sense, pragmatism, curiosity, perseverance

      • Good problem solver; great problem preventer

      • Process-oriented, flexible

      • Works well independently and with teams

      • Experience with Windows, Visual Studio, C, C++, various microprocessors, IDEs and debugging tools

      • BS, MS or PhD in an engineering or scientific field
