Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The successful candidate supports Medical Affairs operational activities pertaining to proficiency testing, complaint investigations, and other business processes as identified.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Performs various technical laboratory procedures for the purposes of performing proficiency testing in a schedule parallel with customer participation
  • Maintains laboratory spaces including inventory of reagents and consumables, periodic maintenance, and other preventive maintenance as needed
  • Assists in development of business support processes to expedite and automate customer cases assigned to Medical Affairs
  • Performs administrative tasks to support proficiency testing, complaint investigations, contract routing, and other projects as needed
  • Provides visibility to Medical Affairs operations processes by gathering and reporting success indicators using DBS tools
  • Acquires and uses knowledge of Medical Affairs staff priorities and business practices to respond to issues or requests as authorized
  • Assists Complaint Investigator and Clinical Lab Scientist as needed for business continuity

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education or Experience (in years): 


  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Science or Clinical/Medical Laboratory Science; or equivalent combination of education and experience to perform at this level
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience supporting a scientific organization, other laboratory setting, or other form of scientific/technical support such as research assistant, teaching assistant, etc.

Knowledge and skills: 


•         Good understanding and ability to follow complex procedures and processes

•         Ability to exercise judgement within defined procedures incorporating guided decision-making or specific instructions

•         Ability to manage work independently while working effectively in a team

•         Proven success with project management and organization

•         Advanced knowledge and application of commercial computer application packages such as MS Office, web browsers, etc.

•         Excellent written and verbal communication skills

•         Outstanding troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

•         Thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced, and constantly changing environment

•         Self-motivated, organized, and possess strong attention to detail

•         Highly collaborative, team-oriented, and an effective communicator

Physical requirements/abilities: 


•         Extended computer-telephone interactive tasks and/or prolonged static postures,

•         Lifting of objects up to 25 lbs. (equivalent to one full banker’s box),

•         Manipulating specimens or samples containing bloodborne pathogens, latex particles, or other chemicals,

•         Possible exposure to ultraviolet light or lasers,

•         Extended periods of donning personal protective equipment including but not limited to lab coats, goggles, gloves, masks, etc.
