Description

We are seeking a Staff Systems Engineer in our Liquid Chromatography Research and Development (R&D) group. 
  • Work within the R&D team to define and design innovative products for the LC and LC-MS markets.
  • Design, build, and test breadboard and prototype systems and subsystems to address identified needs and requirements.
  • Collaborate with marketing and application associates to identify new features and requirements for products.
  • Translate customer, marketing, and business needs into User Needs and System Requirements.
  • Convert prototype demonstrations into system design architectures, (DFR, DFM, DFS).
  • Lead the development and execution of architecture and design controls for new products.  
  • Identify risks and make recommendations for risk response strategies, (FMEA), including reliability test and measures.
  • Lead the planning and execution of integration level activities from breadboard, through prototype and pilot.
  • Provide guidance and support for systems engineering approaches and activities within the organization.

Job Requirements



Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree or higher in an appropriate discipline (Physics, Engineering, Chemistry, etc…) with a minimum of 9 or more years of relevant industry experience with typically 15 years of practical experience OR Master’s degree in field with 7 or more years of relevant industry experience. 
  • Knowledge of Life Science and analytical instrumentation systems required, preference will be given to candidates who possess experience in liquid chromatography, or mass spectrometry. 
  • Experience in architecting instruments in an R&D environment and moving designs from R&D to Manufacturing.
  • Experience with Product Development Life Cycles and Manufacturing principles.
  • Strong understanding of and experience implementing control systems (PID, thermal designs, and noise filtering).
  • Demonstrated history of driving projects to completion in schedule driven environments.
  • Demonstrated history of creativity, innovation, and troubleshooting.
  • Additional Requirements: 
  • Understanding of associated disciplines in the product development process; Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Firmware and Software Engineering, Analytical Chemistry.
  • Ability to critically analyze and evaluate data.
  • Methodical troubleshooting and debugging capabilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and a commitment to documentation.
