Cepheid is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our product software team developing molecular diagnostic applications using Java and Angular predominantly. You’ll need to be well versed in object-oriented design and web technologies. You will be responsible for architecting, defining, developing, testing, and implementation of Cepheid next generation software products.

In this role you are expected be an expert in building scalable systems, to lead technical discussions, participate in code reviews, and guide the team in engineering best practices. You are expected to be a highly technical, hands-on coder who will also provide technical guidance and thought leadership to team members.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

- Architect, design, implement and maintain molecular diagnostics application software using predominantly Java and Angular

- Ability to architect and build software from scratch as well as improve existing code

- Ensure design and code reviews, analysis of code components and code coverage of unit test cases

- Drive end-to-end quality with effective automation of unit level, component level and system level testing

- Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills

- Strong skills in critical thinking, decision making, problem-solving, and attention to details

- Proven success in agile development environment

Job Requirements


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of related work experience ORMaster’s degree in field with 8+ years of related work experience ORDoctoral degree in field with 5+ years of related work experience.

What We Are Looking For:

A BS in Computer Science, or other STEM majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), and a minimum of 10 years of software development experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience to perform at this level.

- 8+ years of experience working as a full stack developer

- Strong Java experience, minimum 8 years of experience

- Strong front-end development experience

- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

- Experience of architecting and building software from scratch

- Experience in designing and developing complex framework and platform solutions with practical use of design patterns
