Description

The staff software engineer leads and participates in the design, development, and debugging of software for life sciences applications and instrumentation.  This includes software for instrument control, communication, data management, data analysis, as well as user interfaces.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Participate in the generation of system requirements
  • Lead and participate in the design of system architecture, its components, modules, subsystems, and interfaces. This includes balancing the software requirements and trade-offs that influence hardware selection and design
  • Lead and participate in multi-functional design reviews
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of software components and subsystems
  • Lead and participate in the design and implementation of software testing and verification
  • Participate in the ongoing improvement of software development processes, methodology, and tools
  • Improve quality of existing, complex code base
  • Provide technical leadership of small team

Job Requirements



Qualifications

  • Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related BS degree with 9+ years experience; or MS degree with 7+ years experience; or Doctoral degree with 4+ years experience
  • Expertise in software architecture design
  • Experience in developing and delivering production software
  • Strong software engineering best practices background with demonstrated ability to adhere to source control and design control processes
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision and focused urgency
  • Experience with agile development processes and continuous integration
  • Demonstrated strong teamwork skills
  • Possess professional written and verbal communication skills for interaction with engineering team, technical support personnel, and technical writers
  • Experience with the following technologies: Native C++, C#, GUI development in .NET or Qt, networking and/or embedded web development
