Description

An experienced scientist is required to help lead the design and development of innovative, new consumables, reagents, and instrumentation with specific focus on biopharmaceutical analyses utilizing capillary electrophoresis with optical and mass spectrometric detection.  In this capacity, the candidate will work within multi-disciplinary teams participating in all phases of product development, including new concept realization and product commercialization. The individual will be involved in innovation, problem solving and technical collaboration, while applying established product development processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Leadership in the execution of new product development tasks and deliverables.
•Planning, organization and execution of innovative research that includes conception, implementation, and experimental evaluation of new and improved approaches for sample analysis using electrophoretic separations.
•Carry out, complete, and present the results of original research in the form of invention disclosures, internal reviews, peer-reviewed publications, and scientific presentations at internal and external meetings.
•Troubleshooting and creative problem solving in a multidisciplinary team to address technical challenges in synthetic and analytical chemistry and customer related problems.
•Collaborate with product marketing and engineering resources on the decomposition of top-level requirements to develop specifications for new product development.
•Provide scientific and technical support of customers and collaborators.

Job Requirements



Qualifications

•PhD (preferred) or Master's degree, with significant experience, in Chemistry, Engineering, or Applied Science, or its equivalent.
•Demonstrated experience and leadership in development of analytical instrumentation and/or related consumables and reagents.  Experience with consumables manufacturing a plus.
•Project and/or people management experience desired.
•Fundamental understanding of, and experience with, capillary electrophoresis, chemical derivatization, and sample preparation techniques is needed.
•Experience with biological/biopharmaceutical analysis using optical detection and mass spectrometry desired.
•Strong instrumentation and chemistry troubleshooting skills are required.
•Proactive, results-oriented, self-motivated team player with strong organizational skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•Demonstrated track record of achievements in original research and translation to manufactured products.
