Description

Seeking a qualified candidate for an immediate full-time job opening for the position of Staff Manufacturing Engineer.  This position will be responsible for developing and implementing manufacturing processes and equipment to achieve plant manufacturing objectives for safety, quality, on-time performance, and customer satisfaction.  This position will direct and coordinate cross-functional teams and activities to complete assigned projects that are of significant complexity and value to ensure that projects are completed within prescribed contractual requirements, time frames, and funding parameters while employing Continuous Improvement (CI), Lean Six Sigma


Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Plan, manage and control the procurement of capital equipment, materials and services. Ensure the equipment and/or services are delivered on time, on budget, and meet all standards/specifications to insure program success.
  • Create process documentation, including: validations, assembly drawings, work instructions, bill of materials (BOM) and routings.   Conduct Process Failure Modes Effect Analysis (pFMEAs) and develop and implement countermeasures to reduce risk (e.g. control plans).
  • Determine, document and validate the proper equipment, tooling and test apparatus. Includes designing, creating drawings and bills of material.
  • Perform sustaining engineering tasks for released products. Utilize the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process, report writing and/or other appropriate protocols to document changes.
  • Evaluate existing processes and equipment for safety, consistent product quality and cost effectiveness. Maximize efficiency through Lean concepts: analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, material handling and work force utilization.
  • Work with the Operation’s personnel, suppliers and customers to troubleshoot and resolve process, product and component problems. Perform root cause analysis on non-conforming materials and processes, including customer complaints (returned products) and implement corrective action plans per established procedures.
  • Manage facility and utility projects in support of business upgrades or expansion including clean manufacturing process facilities.
  • Survey and identify replacement components for reliability, for reasons of obsolescence or cost reduction. Identify and contact vendors. Compare technical specifications. Compile and prepare required documentation according to change control procedures.
  • Develop programs and/or methods to optimize work in process material, reduce cycle time, limit manufacturing losses and improve throughput.
  • Develop and implement a (preventive) maintenance program to ensure operational readiness of plant equipment and optimize production efficiencies.
  • Support the implementation and optimization of the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software system operation.
  • Identify manufacturing capability and capacity and provide guidance to facilitate production processes in accordance with strategic objectives.
  • Identify bottlenecks and improve productivity.
  • Evaluate equipment sustainability and help develop manufacturing plan to assure business continuity.
  • Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
  • Report on process performance and lead cost reduction initiatives.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
  • 9+ years working experience in Facilities Engineering, Manufacturing or Process Engineering 
  • Strong multi-project management skills and experience in organizing, prioritizing, planning, and executing multiple significant-scale projects from definition through implementation involving internal personnel and third-party contractors.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
  • Lean principles: Six Sigma, Knowledge of Building Systems (HVAC, Electrical, Security)
  • Problem solving skills, with training in root cause analysis and corrective action management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, team player with the ability of working independently
  • Ability to analyze production and quality data
  • Specific training in medical device / pharmaceutical engineering practices, guidelines, validation principles, cGMP utility maintenance and operations.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Solidworks or Inventor
