Purpose of the Position: Develop new products
related to nucleic acid preparation including nucleic acid extraction, nucleic
acid purification, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), high-throughput biology, CRISPR/Cas9,
and other genomic workflows. Plan, coordinate, and perform the design and
development of genomic reagents and customer solutions.


PhD-level molecular biologist. We are looking for an
experienced scientist with excellent bench and leadership skills. Must have
extensive experience in nucleic acid methods and preferably a specialization in
high-throughput biology nucleic acid workflows (NGS, CRSPR/Cas9, genome
engineering, etc) or related DNA nanotechnology fields. Creative problem
solvers that love complex puzzles and have demonstrated success in thinking
outside the box to deliver innovative solutions to complex problems. Must be a
strong team player with ability to partner effectively with large internal
teams, cross-functional experts, external collaborators, and customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create innovative reagent kits and
    research products to meet customer needs

  • Experimental design, execution,
    analysis and documentation to support new product development

  • Define and translate new product
    requirements into product designs and performance specifications.

  • Develop technical solutions to product
    design and performance issues.

  • Collaborate with internal and external
    partners to achieve project objectives and deliver timely innovative
    solutions to meet business needs

  • Provide leadership to small
    development teams.

  • Work with Program Manager to support
    daily management of technical project timelines to enable accurate
    projection of milestone completion dates and effective prioritization of

Job Requirements


Education and Experience: Doctoral degree in
chemistry, genetics, or molecular biology (PhD +5yr post-degree experience).

  • Industry experience required.

  • Deep technical expertise in nucleic
    acid isolation methods and downstream applications required.

  • Experience with design and development
    of consumable or reagent assays for research and/or clinical diagnostics
    highly desired

  • In depth understanding of chemical or
    mechanistic interactions between nucleic acids and surfaces, reagents, or other
    molecules highly desired.

  • Experience with NGS sample preparation
    and library construction desired

  • Knowledge and mastery of phase-gated
    development processes in regulated environments

  • Ability to understand complex
    scientific and engineering concepts

  • Proactive, results-oriented,
    self-motivated team player with strong organizational skills and excellent
    written and verbal communication skills.

Location: The position will be
based in Indianapolis and require up to 5% travel.
