Position Summary:

The Sr. Scientist/Engineer will participate in the US-based technical team that supports internal and customer activities for a broad range of downstream processing technologies, including (but not limited to) the portfolio of Continuous Bioprocessing Technologies.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and conduct on-site trials, during which customers evaluate or test downstream batch and continuous bioprocessing technologies provided by Pall
  • Support customers in process improvement and/or troubleshooting related to these trials
  • Support continuous improvement of the team’s technical capabilities and other skills through training, sharing standard methodologies, and developing/improving standard work

Technical Duties:

  • Participate in customer support and other support activities as key team member of the SLS Continuous Bioprocessing team in the US
  • Proactively develop protocols and solutions to help customers implement continuous bioprocessing technologies in process development and cGMP manufacturing environments
  • Engage with customers and regulatory bodies such as the US-FDA to define regulatory expectations and concerns for implementation of continuous bioprocessing solutions
  • Support the company’s R&D team Westborough, MA in their New Product Development activities by providing input on how customers use these technologies, by coordinating alpha and beta trials before launch, and by developing standard work and training materials for the team
  • Provide internal and external training on continuous bioprocessing technologies (batch) and related topics, including regulatory aspects
  • Provide expert scientific and technical support to business units globally and link with other regional and global SLS teams
  • Attend and participate at relevant industry conferences (report technical trends, changes to regulatory standards, etc.)
  • Write and present technical papers for general publication/presentation at conferences and meetings

Job Requirements


Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or other Life sciences
  • 3 or more years of the following:
    • Industry knowledge and experience in biopharmaceutical processes, technologies and their applications.
    • Experience in downstream unit operations for biopharmaceutical applications
  • Strong analytical mindset; can translate observations into a problem and/or research problems and provide direction for adequate solutions
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills
  • Willingness to travel 50% of the time (domestic)
  • Licensed to drive in the US
  • Holds current Passport (international travel may be occasionally requested)

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Ph.D. in Engineering or other Life Sciences
  • 1 or more years of the following:
    • Industry knowledge and experience in biopharmaceutical processes, technologies and their applications
    • Experience in downstream unit operations for biopharmaceutical applications
  • Chromatography column packing experience
  • Experience in cGMP operations
