Sr. R&D Engineer, New Product Development

Pall Corporation is seeking a research focused engineer to help create the next generation of filtration products for our customers.

Your role:
•Conduct research and engage in New Product Development (NPD) of advanced filtration independent of direct supervision.
•Develops engineering design specifications for materials, processes and equipment with critical to quality measures.
•Provides R&D leadership within the group and cross-functionally as needed to drive innovation.
•Contributes to NPD roadmap using application knowledge from BioPharm/BioTech Industry.
•Conducts research in fluid flow and filtration to enable New Product roadmap.
•Designs, analyzes and engineers new products with the use of standard tools, engineering software, design calculations, and best-known methods for product designs.
•Leads innovation and develops new technologies, creates new ideas that enable New Product Development.
•Maintains collaborations with other research and academic entities that enable innovation.
•Utilizes sound fundamentals like Design of Experiments (DOE); leads project teams and task forces.
•Comprehends Voice of the Customer and engages technical expertise to meet voice of customer in new product design and development activities.
•Calculates and predicts product performance including fluid flow, stack-up tolerances, structural integrity etc.
•Works with Test Laboratories to identify test protocols and quality performance criteria and/or drafts and executes test protocols.
•Leverages global R&D and engineering resources in other time zones.
•Communication Interpersonal skills that build productive relationships and influence others, both within the business and across organizations. Ability to interact with all levels of the business (senior leaders to working teams), exceptionally good listening skills, able to present complex or new ideas with clarity and simplicity
•Teamwork:  collaborate effectively with others in the spirit of common objectives
•Analytical Problem Solving:  Able to identify problems; apply structured and disciplined methodology to identify root cause using data. Innovative and effective solution development, risk mitigation and execution.
•Leadership ability to influence decision making with or without authority, facilitate groups with diverse perspectives, bring teams to agreement.
•Leads innovation, develops new technologies, creates intellectual property, and contributes new ideas that enable rapid New Product Development.

Job Requirements


Basic Qualifications
•Bachelor's or Masters Degree in Mechanical/Biomedical/Materials/Polymer engineering or related field
•3 - 5 + years' experience as design engineer in new product development environment
•3 – 5 + years' proficiency/experience in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor) or as a project leader in a New Product Development team

Preferred Qualifications/Experience 
•Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project)
•Design and development of bioprocessing or food processing equipment.
•USP and other regulatory aspects of material selection and testing 
•Proven collaboration skills in a fast-paced matrix organization
•Molding plastics/ polymer processing
