Sr. Quality Engineer - Cortland NY

Key responsibilities: 

Analyze non-conformances to determine root cause and monitor corrective actions for effectiveness.  Have complete understanding of problem solving techniques and deploy within diverse workforce. 

Maintains and improves product quality by completing product, process and surveillance audits; supplier interaction to resolve manufacturing issues & to include site audits. 

Supports the validation of product designs, manufacturing processes, and procedures, by effectively conducting & leadings a structured kaizen events.

Interfaces with engineering and manufacturing personnel to ensure that all products and services meet or exceed customer specifications. 

Improves products through implementations of quality management policies, procedures, specifications, test methods and measurement systems. 

Provide statistical data, Pareto charts, SPC data as part of a multi-functional team to maintain both dimensional and functional capability in the manufacture of components. 

Addresses customer complaints to assure that root cause analysis and proper corrective action/preventive actions are taken, and results are communicated to the customer and all other appropriate parties in a timely manner. 

Manage the internal & external audit program including maintaining certified trained auditors, schedule audits, ensuring non-compliance & opportunities for improvement are properly documented & closed out per required timing, these audits include process, product, layered, customer & vendor audits. 

Develops risk management plans, reports, and utilize risk management tools such as FMEA's AND RCCA. 

Provides direction in developing inspection plans, First Article Inspection, In-Process and Final Product Inspection, Sampling Plans, inspection and acceptance criteria and Design Validation Testing. 

Participate with Strategic Sourcing to qualify new vendor components; provide relevant data to select suppliers, manage the supplier audit process and prepare reports to share with senior leadership team. 

Supports all aspects of ISO9001, ASME,NSF, and Pressure Equipment Directives, and any other applicable codes/standards as may be defined by customer requirements. 

Review all inspection & test records for customer compliance & be responsible for the release of customer products after final inspection. 

Provide the value stream with input in order to make timely decisions on product quality

Job Requirements


Bachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline

2 years’ experience in a Sr. Quality Engineering role within a manufacturing environment. 

2 + year  knowledge of SPC with validating control charts and interpreting results and make recommendations to improve. 


ASQ Certified Engineer, Six Sigma Black Belt and Lean Manufacturing, & Lead Auditor certification experience is preferred. 

Be able to interpret regulatory codes and apply them to the product/process for conformance to customer requirements. Knowledge of Inspections and Quality Control methods, techniques and equipment. Process and quality improvement experience with knowledge of 6-Sigma, Kaizen,  SPC and  Process Control
