Position Summary:

In the exciting role of Project Manager, you will be hands-on coordinating a variety of customer projects. As the primary point of contact for the customer, you will have the opportunity to take ownership of a project from start to completion, using your talents and capabilities to drive business in this rapidly growing biotechnology market.

Primary Responsibilities:

In this role you will form and manage a high-functioning project team, consisting of process engineers and support group members. You will also coordinate all phases of the project, with technical assistance from engineering, in accordance with established standard work, including:

  • Pre-ordering Sales Support (budget/quotation phase)
  • Performing contract review of orders received against quotations
  • Generating all project relevant design documents (P&IDs, GAs, Electrical, and Software)
  • Coordinating vendors and sub-contractors
  • Presenting technical solutions to customer
  • Performing Pre-FAT, FAT and SAT testing and deviation resolution
  • Finalizing documentation for turn over packages (TOP)
  • Ensuring final customer acceptance at site

You will also:

  • Establish and practice project controls/governance/standards
  • Provide cost reporting against budget
  • Coordinate and utilize resources for multiple projects, globally if needed, including other project managers assigned to projects
  • Manage and submit project documentation and presentations
  • Apply risk management principles to identify, mitigate, or present options for resolution to issues that impact quality, delivery, or budget
  • Communicate project progress and risks to program directors, executives, upper management, and partners (internal and external)
  • Partner with process engineering to ensure designs will meet customer specifications
  • Ensure all project documentation is complete and accurate for project close out
  • Travel upwards of 25% - international and domestic

Job Requirements



  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Biotechnology (Master’s preferred)
  • 5+ years’ experience in engineering or project management within the life sciences industry – with a focus on engineering disciplines (feasibility, design, construction, commissioning, and validation)
  • 5+ years of industrial experience (biotechnology and pharma) in engineering project management
  • Previous experience in performing equipment testing (FAT, SAT, commissioning and qualification)
  • Broad technical knowledge, superb organizational skills to lead, coordinate and execute complicated projects
  • Understanding of Biotech processes and knowledge of the Biotech market is an asset
  • Knowledgeable in project management methodology and techniques; risk management and change management principles
  • Experience with compiling and following strict budgets
  • Experience managing both internal and vendor resources
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, ability to deliver stellar reporting
  • Strong people skills with distinctive ability to motivate and influence
