Description

The Sr. Product Manager is responsible for Product Management activities for Cepheid’s diagnostic instruments and software products. Key activities for the position includes product strategy, product life cycle management, product launches, and supporting commercial organizations with key marketing and commercialization activities.




Responsibilities:



  • Take a user-centric and data-driven approach to solving customer problems

  • Identify unmet customer needs and new product/market opportunities in molecular diagnostics by utilizing structured VOC processes.

  • Drive the development of new product concepts in close corporation with scientific affairs, R&D, and other internal stakeholders.

  • Think critically about technical solutions and engage the engineering team in tough conversations about prioritization and tradeoffs

  • Manage through challenges that arise in product development – timelines, technical risks, vendors, and shifting regulatory requirements – with professionalism and a positive attitude

  • Provide input to the strategic roadmap by getting smart about the market through customer interaction and competitive analysis

  • Build consensus for the product strategy and roadmap across a range of stakeholders and functional teams in the organization

  • Represent Marketing in new product development core teams


Other key deliverables:



  • Support regional and local marketing organizations with growth initiatives, product launches, training, and commercial excellence initiatives

  • Participate in key conferences and meetings

Job Requirements



Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of related work experience OR Master’s degree in field with 6+ years of related work experience OR Doctoral degree in field with 3+ years of work experience

  • Minimum Five (5) years of experience in Technical (Software) Marketing / Product Management or customer facing roles in the medical or diagnostic industries

  • Demonstrates knowledge of molecular IVD products and markets

  • Communicates effectively and strong team player/collaborator with various internal constituent, customers and other stakeholders

  • Prior product launch experience is essential; prior product development experience would be important

  • Excellent presentation skills; ability to multi-task across broad number of products and disease states

  • Analytical thinking and in depth understanding of the current market environment is a requirement

  • Willingness to travel up to 25-30%, both domestic and/or internationally, as required
