Description

Sr. Principal Engineer

Position Objective

Conducts Research and engages in New Product Development(NPD) of advanced filtration projects independent of direct supervision. Provides R&D leadership within the group and cross-functionally as needed to drive innovation. Contributes to NPD roadmap using application knowledge from Semiconductor OEMs. Role is a part of our growing R&D team at Filter Design Center of Excellence for Microelectronics to develop the state-of-the-art filtration, purification and separation products and processes for advanced semiconductor markets in Photolithography, Chemicals, Gas and other applications

Job Functions
  • Conducts research in fluid flow and filtration to enable New Product roadmap of Pall Microelectronics  
  • Designs, Analyzes and Engineers new products with the use of standard tools, engineering software, design calculations, and best-known methods for product designs  
  • Leads a group of R&D scientists to innovate and develop new technologies to create new ideas that enable New Product Development 
  • Utilizes application knowledge from Semiconductor OEMs in product development 
  • Maintains collaborations with other research and academic entities that enable breakthrough innovation 
  • Utilizes sound fundamentals like Design of Experiments (DOE); leads project teams and task forces 
  • Communicates clearly to leadership, team members, customers, suppliers and other key stakeholders.   
  • Comprehends Voice of the Customer and engages technical expertise to meet voice of customer in new product design and development activities 
  • Calculate and predict product performance including fluid flow, stack-up tolerances, structural integrity etc. 
  • Work with Test Laboratories to identify test protocols and quality performance criteria 
  • Works with global teams by overcoming cultural and language barriers and aptitude to go above and beyond to provide cohesion among project teams 
  • Studies and learns the fundamental technology of a wide variety of filtration products, processes and equipment 
  • Utilizes change control practices to assure product design integrity in maintained 
  • Leverages global R&D and engineering resources in other time zones 
  • Participates in teleconferences during off hours.
  • Requires 10% travel both nationally and internationally.
  • Requires independent and creative design/product engineering with complete ownership of managing and delivering strategic advanced filtration projects. 
  • Acts as a subject matter expert in resolving customer problems.
  • Develops engineering design specifications for materials, processes and equipment with critical to quality measures

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical or other Engineering discipline, Chemistry or Polymer Science 
  • Minimum of Ten (10) years of experience – out of that, five (5) years MUST be in R&D in product development and/or design engineering is required
Preferred Qualifications
  • MS/PhD in Mechanical, Chemical or other Engineering discipline, Chemistry or Polymer Science
  • Knowledge of Filter Design, Fluid dynamics, Chemical and Hydromechanics, advanced membrane technology is highly desirable 
  • Application knowledge of Semiconductor OEMs or Fab Equipment Engineering experience is highly desirable  
  • Technical background related to Plastic Molding, Pressure vessel design and injection molding is desirable. 
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills 
  • Experience speaking Asian language and adaptable to other cultures
