Purpose of Position

The Senior Materials Specialist at ForteBio is responsible for various project aspects of the Materials department. He/She works closely with internal Associates and outside suppliers. Through analysis and material management skills, h/she assists the company in meeting short term and long term production goals and keeps the supply chain active throughout, managing various aspects of Direct & Indirect materials.  He/she uses the ERP system and the Kanban calculator tool (in Microsoft Excel) to plan material flow.  Responsible for the negotiation and management of select commodities for Indirect and direct material, and for meeting Global Sourcing savings targets as well as serving as an escalation path for delivery, quality, and supplier management issues.  The ability to manage multiple complex projects and to develop the supply base to meet corporate and business unit objectives is critical.  You must have the ability to evaluate and select new suppliers along with Engineering, Quality and Regulatory and to select strategic partners worldwide.  Must have strong understanding of global trade, the need for constant change and identification of emerging technologies. 


This position is based at ForteBio (Fremont, CA).  Domestic travel 10% to 30%, international travel possible (Europe and/or Asia).  


Responsibilities:

⦁ Manage the Kanban system with the use of Kanban calculator (includes              resizing Kanban bins and adding/removing parts as needed

⦁ Negotiate and manage (new & existing) contractual PO’s, stocking                      agreements, pricing, payment terms, supplier lead times, and MOQ’s and  

        entry of purchase orders into ERP as needed

⦁ Cycle Count management and reconciliation of cycle counts with Logistics 

        and Purchasing

⦁ Month end reporting (e.g. cycle count results, month end shipments, etc.)

⦁ Analyze and forecast biosensors with ForteBio Shanghai monthly.

⦁ Lead for various projects as requested (e.g. lead materials representative 

        for ISO, Materials Project Lead for NPI, etc.)

⦁ Achieve design inventory by creating and managing an inventory reduction          plan

⦁ Drives part shortage reduction (frequency and time) through root cause 

        analysis

⦁ Overall strategy and relationship management in both direct and indirect 

        categories. 

⦁ Responsible to secure savings in line with annual objectives.

Job Requirements



Qualifications

⦁ Bachelors degree or above in Supply Chain, Engineering or related field.
⦁ 5+ years of Supply Management experience
⦁ 2-3 years of experience using Oracle 
⦁ Experience with Great Plains ERP and ReQlogic requisitioning system, a 
        plus
⦁ Excellent negotiation and decision making skills
⦁ Experience in lean manufacturing,Usage of lean tools, for example: 5S, 
        Standard Work, KANBAN, Policy Deployment, Value Stream Management,
        Visual Management.
⦁ Strong analytical skills, use of data to drive decisions
⦁ Advanced skills in PowerPoint, Excel, Word

⦁ Openness to coaching, with strong collaboration, communication and team          work skills.
