Beckman Coulter is a Danaher company, operating in two industries: Diagnostics and Life Sciences. 


The Sr. Machinist position machines complex titanium and aluminum high speed rotating devices using a variety of specialized CNC equipment. The environment is high mix, low volume with over 450 unique operations and parts which require a high level of technical skill and organization.  Responsibilities include preparation, setup, job qualification, and machining of precision high speed rotating devices, maintaining daily quality and production demands; managing inventory of fixtures used in assembly and machining process; participate in Kaizen and continuous improvement teams to improve process or product quality.

More detailed responsibilities include:
  • Sets up and operates conventional, CNC, and N/C equipment such as Cincinnati Milacron lathes, Toyoda Mills, Matsuura machining centers, Okuma and Hawachion vertical lathes and Mazak. Primary experience in vertical lathe set up & operate
  • Performs inspections to predefined methods and sequences of operations and makes adjustments holding tolerance specifications.
  • Exercise empowerment and initiative in identifying and resolving problems, establishing process controls, and contributing recommendations.
  • Follow manufacturing practices in compliance with company standards, ISO standards and cGMP as required.
  • Manage complex precision components and/or assemblies used in a variety of specialized equipment.
  • Inspect, Maintain and control tools and equipment used at conventional, CNC, and N/C equipment, CNC vertical lathe experience preferred.

Job Requirements


  • Strong mechanical and mathematical aptitude.
  • High School Diploma and a minimum of 8-10 years CNC machining experience is required, formal technical school/college training is a plus.
  • Experience or formal training in manually operated milling and turning machines
  • Experience or formal training in blueprint reading and precision measurement, GT&T preferred.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds and push or pull 100 pounds.
  • Able to use a PC, ability to read and understand complex prints, capable of using a variety of measuring tools, and possesses mechanical / mathematical aptitude.
  • Able to use PC for required training.
