Job Summary:

Cepheid is looking for a highly talented and result driven individual to join the Commercial Ops finance team as a Senior Financial Analyst.  The position requires a well-rounded individual who has demonstrated the ability to deliver results in a high growth environment and will be responsible for providing financial and analytical support to the Commercial organization and will be a key member of our Commercial Finance and extended FP&A team. This role is directly involved with the preparation of periodic reporting packages and analysis for use by the Sales and Marketing Team and coordination of various planning cycles (annual planning, quarterly forecasts and monthly outlooks). The incumbent must be comfortable working with shifting priorities and lending finance expertise within diverse work assignments.


  • Manage regular reporting deliverables to executive management and corporate partners in weekly, monthly and quarterly intervals and prepare monthly consolidated revenue packages.

  • Develop and monitor Sales performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variances. Use appropriate metrics and forward looking modelling tools to help sales team enhance their financial and operational performance trends.

  • Administer various revenue reporting schedules (Daily Report, Weekly Sales and bookings report) and ensure that various reporting systems and source data are accurate and reconciled.

  • Develop reporting dashboards to improve and streamline key reporting processes and assist with key financial forecast system management in the delivery of standard reporting packages.

  • Support the evolution and adoption of revenue reporting and forecasting systems and champion scalable and automated analytics and reporting capabilities.

  • Perform analytics on key performance indicators, including average selling price (ASP) and other global financial analysis and conduct detailed research to understand and interpret financial results.

  • Prepare and provide ad hoc reporting and analysis requested by Executive management and department leaders as needed to support the business.

Job Requirements



Education and Experience:

  • An undergraduate degree is required (Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related area), MBA preferred

  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role


Knowledge and skills:

  • Experience and strong systems skills in utilization of Business Intelligence (BI), Planning and ERP systems such as, BPC, and SAP

  • Strong relationship building, communication, and presentation skills

  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced high-growth and continually evolving environment to meet tight deadlines, prioritize business needs, and manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Advanced Excel skills with ability to analyze large amounts of data and translate in an easily understandable format – understand big picture without losing sight of finer details

  • Demonstrate an understand of accounting theory and practice (e.g. basic revenue recognition rules)
