Description

This Sr. Business Contract and Bid Specialist is responsible to provide support for our Americas business units across all commercial functions. The Sr. Business Contract and Bid Specialist will work closely with the business unit directors, managers, field service and sales teams, participating in team meetings and providing necessary support for both the daily business operations and strategic initiatives. The successful candidate will be expected to perform a wide variety of hands on sale/service contract negotiation with both internal and external customers and administration services for assigned proposals and contractual agreements. This role is unique in its complexity as the bid and contract activities have moderate to high risk to the business unit. Contract activity may be non-routine and require development of specialized contract vehicles and techniques to accomplish business goals and objectives. Contract activity requires strict adherence to legal and finance policies regarding business risk assessment. Generally, involves independent judgment and analysis of significant issue identification and resolution. May require development of new contract policies and processes or assessment of required deviations from established norm.


  • Reviews complex solicitations and prepares specialized and/or non-routine response for proposals, bids, and contract modifications.

  • Analyzes significant, and/or unique contract requirements, special provisions, terms and conditions to ensure compliance with appropriate laws, regulations, and corporate policies and business unit procedure and communicates results to subordinates.

  • Focal point for all communication with law, finance, and business team disciplines for resolution of contract issues and disputes.

  • Assists in identification, development and implementation of new contract policy and processes.

  • Have a general understanding of the business case and an appreciation of financial/analytical issues and profit and loss implications.

  • Other duties as assigned.

More Specifically:



  • Responsible for administering basic to moderately complex bid proposals, both commercial and vendor.

  • Working with Sales management, external customers, and internal business unit owners to negotiate agreements, amendments, and general documents.

  • Interfacing with the Company management and other Company departments to develop and review agreements as needed.

  • Responsible for preparing letter agreements, sale/service amendments, review statements of work, proposal submissions for terms and conditions.

  • Responsible for reviewing and analyzing sales RFPs/solicitations, identifying areas of contract risk and developing appropriate risk mitigation terms.

  • Responsible for maintaining strong and effective relationships with internal (e.g., Sales (both domestic and international), Marketing, IT, HR, Engineering, Finance, Revenue Recognition) and external clients/customers.

  • Assume the lead role in administering multiple sale bids, contract amendments and renewals

  • Ensure complete accuracy and on-time submission by opening deadline

Job Requirements



Qualifications

Education and/or Work Experience:



  • 5+ years’ service/sales contracts management experience in life sciences manufacturing or similar regulated industry required.
  • Previous experience managing, coordinating and facilitating the bid process preferred;


  • Certified Commercial Contracts Manager (CCCM) or Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM) preferred but, not required. 


  • Ability to work in a fast –paced team-oriented environment required.


  • Ability to effectively manage priorities required.


  • Advanced skills in PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Oracle 11i, PDF or Adobe Acrobat preferred.


  • Verbal and Written French language skills preferred.

  • Working to expert knowledge of contracting concepts, Uniform Commercial Code, applicable public contract acquisition law and regulations, and applicable international contract law.

  • Strong to excellent analytical and communication skills.

  • Good presentation, leadership, and management skills.

  • Use of independent judgment and creativity applied to resolution of contract issues.

  • Excellent internal and external negotiation skills.

  • Emerging ability to excel in upper level management environment.

  • Proven experience managing complex tasks including project management
