      Job Title: Sr. Analyst, Operations and Business Analytics

      Business Context: This position supports operations management in Sunnyvale, CA and reports to the Vice President of Operations

      Introduction to the role: The Senior Analyst provides strategic business analysis services to business partners. The focus of this position is to work closely with cross-functional units to gain in-depth understanding of business strategy, processes, services, roadmap and the context in which the business operates. Key deliverables will be to gather, analyze, and report data to support operational goals and drive efficiency.

      The Senior Analyst provides strategic business analysis services to business partners. The focus of this position is to work closely with cross-functional units to gain in-depth understanding of business strategy, processes, services, roadmap and the context in which the business operates. Key deliverables will be to gather, analyze, and report data to support operational goals and drive efficiency.

      The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for reviewing assigned business processes from end-to-end to identify and address operational, financial and technological risks. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency. Responsibilities will include a full range of activities from leading small to mid-size projects to assisting other project managers on larger more complex projects related to operational business functions that affect team members and providers at the market level.

      The position is part of the Sunnyvale manufacturing department which is composed of 500+ employees and supports Cepheid’s growing molecular diagnostic testing business with a 24 x 7 production operation.

      ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
      •    Track and report key organizational performance metrics
      •    Update and enhance previously developed reporting systems
      •    Identify and develop new reporting to drive operational improvement
      •    Analyze production output and utilized capacity
      •    Coordinate with finance to forecast and achieve budgetary targets
      •    Coordinate with finance and other stakeholders to monitor absorption and forecast outlook
      •    Prepare monthly performance report to be used for the operations review
      •    Support production management to forecast required manufacturing personnel 
      •    Create dashboards for various data representations
      •    Collaborate cross-functionally to influence change
      •    Project management

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


Education or Experience (in years):  


Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years in an Analytical Field, preferably with a clear connection to business such as: Finance, Marketing, Statistics or Economics or equivalent combination of experience and education 

•    MBA is preferable with 6+ years experience working in a manufacturing environment


Knowledge and skills:  


•    Demonstrate up-to-date expertise in Information Systems and apply this to the development, execution and improvement of action plans by providing advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices
•    Provide leadership to team members and peers by collaborating with others; articulating ideas and viewpoints to senior management, peers and others; identifying and initiating projects; managing resources; driving the resolution of issues; and holding self and team accountable for results
•    Identify improvement opportunities (proactive and reactive)
•    Elicit and clearly document business and systems requirements
•    Assess business process and system inefficiencies
•    Demonstrated fluency in business processes and process differentiation
•    Ability to analyze and synthesize business requirements, including recognizing patterns and conceptualizing processes
•    Understand and negotiate needs and expectations of multiple stakeholders
•    Serve as a liaison between Operations and IT to assist or gather business requirements needed for system modifications, enhancement and implementations
•    Support system conversions, upgrades, enhancements
•    Proven Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, High level formulas Sumifs, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, etc.)
•    Must have experience working on large scale projects as well as handling day-to-day operational requests from the business
•    Strong project management, ability to successfully manage multiple tasks at any given point, strong relationship building skills & communication skills
•    Data analysis – Must have proficiency with SQL, Microsoft ExcelStrong data analysis and data interpretation abilities
•    Participate in the preparation of reports, financial analysis, and development/maintenance of other programs to include budget, staffing, scheduling, etc.
•    Support senior management in data gathering and analysis for short and long-term action plans as well as various financial analysis on profit improvement opportunities and initiatives.
•    Proven ability to build bridges cross-functionally even when resistance is met
•    Good analytical skills to perform root cause analysis, interpret data, and resolve issues
•    Ability to multi-task and meet completion commitments
•    Project management experience
•    Budget analysis experience

Physical requirements/abilities:  
•    Duties of this position include occasional access to the controlled manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, automation equipment, gowning procedures, etc.
•    Duties of this position require sustained concentration to computer focus
