Job Purpose

The Software Test Engineer tests software products for internal and external customers. As a key member of a dynamic multidisciplinary project team, the Software Test Engineer will be responsible for systematic identification, creation, evaluation and execution of software product tests in an agile approach.

The successful candidate must have good interpersonal skills and will be expected to help ensure the quality and user experience of world-class technologies, applications, and methods.

Key Responsibilities

•Test software for high performance in an Agile-based software development team.

•Contribute to the usability of software for scientific instrumentation products.

•Assist in the design of new applications and methodologies in conjunction with colleagues and customers.

•Maximize automated testing as part of software development.

•Create and execute test plans and cases and generate test artifacts.

•Be an advocate for software quality, including defect and test management, and regulatory activities. 

•Report on product quality, test coverage, and execution metrics.

•As part of software test team, resolve identified quality issues.

•Drive continuous improvement of testing practices.

•Under direction, close risks related to test coverage and execution.

•Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements


•Life Sciences, Scientific, Engineering, or related degree preferred; advanced degree a plus
•Fluency in German and English languages


•Minimum of 1 years working in an Agile software development environment 
•Advanced level of knowledge and experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems
•Demonstrated ability to use various software test methodologies and techniques
•Understanding of underlying concepts related to planning and executing test cases, strategy and software development workflow
•Knowledge of a test management tool (Microsoft Test Manager, Zephyr, TestRail or similar)
•Experience with test system configuration
•Team player

•Understanding of how software is used in scientific instruments.
•1+ years in software testing/development or Quality Assurance.


•A motivated self-starter with the ability to work as part of a project team.

•Analytical, methodical, and organized.

•Able to analyze complex situations and make appropriate operational recommendations.

•Able to maintain focus on key objectives regardless of organizational or operational diversions.

•Highly computer literate, regular user of Microsoft Office.

•Flexible and able to prioritize competing issues and deadlines.

Personal Requirements

•Must have flexibility of working hours around worldwide time zones.

•Must maintain a valid passport
