Primary Job Purpose:
Lead a team of software professionals in the design development and delivery of medical device software in accordance with agreed key performance objectives and compliant with the ASI Quality Management System (QMS) and applicable regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and control the delivery of medical device development projects over the full development lifecycle (planning, requirements, design, build, verification, design transfer, validation). 
  • Provide leadership to project team members in order to remove obstacles to progress, motivate a sense of urgency and create a sense of ownership and positive can-do attitude.
  • Track progress against plan and challenge the project team to achieve on time results. 
  • Estimate effort required to deliver projects in accordance with agreed scope while complying with ASI Quality Management System (QMS), applicable standards and functional/non-functional requirements.
  • Work with Resource Group Managers to effectively resource projects for their duration.
  • Ensure projects are executed in compliance with the ASI QMS and participate in internal and external audits where required, to demonstrate compliance.
  • Communicate project progress/status to stakeholders of varying organisational seniority including project team, project board up to c-suite (L1 and L2 Project Planning Groups).
  • Implement and maintain project metrics and reporting through Visual Management (VM) tools.  Utilise Daily Management (DM) to track progress and ensure alignment with team members and stakeholders.
  • Implement project risk management to countermeasure or mitigate risk before they impact to project on time delivery
Reporting Structure:
  • The role of Software Project Manager reports into the Senior Manager, Programs Management.
  • Where operating under a program of work, the Software Project Manager may take day to day direction from a Program Manager.
  • The Software Project Manager is expected to interface with associates and leaders operating in all functions of the ASI business unit.

Job Requirements



  • Tertiary qualifications in software engineering (or equivalent). 
  • Project Management experience founded on a minimum of six (6) years software engineering experience with exposure to the entire software development  lifecycle.
  • A technical background in the technology stack used in the product and the development environment.
  • A minimum of two (2) years in software project management.  Must have had project delivery responsibility for end to end software lifecyle on a number of projects, preferably across a range of domains.
  • Experience in Agile methods - but must be pragmatic. Able to adopt approach to best deliver on business and customer needs.  
  • Ability to work with project stakeholders to develop plans and establish controls. A problem solver who applies logic and tools to solve difficult problems and drive effective solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills in the English language.
  • Ability to self manage  and work with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Able to prioritise quickly and focus on critical few with drive to action.
  • Ability to empower team members while also holding them to account.
  • Able to cope with change and deal with ambiguity. 
  • Above all, must be pragmatic and not let perfection get in the way of better.

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience in software product delivery as compared with systems integration.
  • Project Management Certification (e.g PMBOK, PMP) 
  • Certified Scrum Master.
  • Experience in the management of offshore development teams.
  • Experience in developing software under the control of medical device design controls.
