Description

This position supports the growth of the Sciex LC business in all aspects of the software development lifecycle. This Software Engineer position is targeted to recent college graduates with a Computer Science or Computer Engineering degree that want to start their career in the Life Sciences domain. As part of a distributed team the ideal candidate brings outstanding communications skills, excellent technical expertise, creative thinking and strong software development skills to the organization. The new hire will report to the Sr. Software Development Manager for the Sciex LC business in Redwood City.

Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain instrumentation control software for Life Sciences domain within a distributed software team
  • Microsoft Windows application development using WPF, MVVM, XAML, C#, C, C++, VisualStudio
  • Embedded firmware development using firmware compilers for onboard instrument control
  • Microsoft Windows Service development using interfaces, data contracts, multi-threading, OOP, OOD, TCP/IP, WCF protocols.
  • Agile development software processes. Code reviews, architecture and design practices, SCRUM software development cycles with Sprints, user stories, task estimation and planning
  • Implementation of embedded unit tests and automation scripts 
  • Create and maintain software lifecycle documentation (Requirements, Architecture) 
  • Support the verification of software and systems through continuous integration builds
  • Comply to the quality management system and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Team player with good communication skills in architecture design, peer to peer discussions, team dynamics, collaboration and innovation

Job Requirements



Qualifications

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
  • College graduates encouraged to apply
  • C, C++, C#, .NET, WPF, WCF, HTML, OOP/OOD, MS Windows application/service and/or embedded software development 
  • Strong analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills using engineering architecture design processes for Windows application development
  • Agile/Scrum software development concepts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Team player who is self-motivated, results oriented and continuously looking to improve own skills
  • Motivated individual who can take ownership and is accountable for software from design to commercialization
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS) or Capillary Electrophoresis (CE) systems is a plus
  • Experience in Life Science or Medical Device domains
