Description

Position Summary 

Leica Biosystems Image Analysis and Clinical Microscopy Applications group develops medical imaging systems primarily for the cytogenetics and pathology communities. The main products we develop in Newcastle are CytoVision, Ariol and VERSA (see http://www.leicabiosystems.com/pathology-imaging/).

We follow SCRUM methodologies (an agile technique) for software product development.
We are looking for enthusiastic, innovative people with good communication skills to become members of an established development team creating cytogenetics and pathology imaging applications. Their primary role will be to design, develop and maintain software integration and control of complex scientific hardware for these applications.

Major Responsibilities
  • Implement and document software designs
  • Implement and document software development and hardware integration, e.g. various microscope and camera components
  • Implement and document engineering tests
  • Collaborate with customers and product specialists to develop new features
  • Learn and apply company ISO 13485 procedures for software development
  • Provide customer support when necessary
  • Provide product demonstrations when necessary

Education:

  • Proven and demonstrable experience in developing software applications in C# 
  • Proven and demonstrable experience in developing software applications in C++
  • Proven and demonstrable experience in integrating and controlling hardware 
  • Proven and demonstrable experience in user interface design with WPF
  • MS Visual Studio
  • SCRUM / Agile development framework

Desired Education, Experience, Skills
Education:

  • Degree in Mathematics, Computing or Science preferred, but not mandatory

Experience/Skills:
  • Microsoft Expression Blend
  • Mobile apps development
  • Automated testing / unit testing
  • Distributed Source Control
  • Regulated device development 

Travel:
  • Infrequent, occasional trips to customer sites
