Service Operations Buyer/Planner 

REPORTS TO: Inventory Service Manager
LOCATION:  Sunnyvale, CA

This is a new position created in the service organization, with the key deliverables of establishing and maintaining service part inventory control, reducing spending on service parts and driving improvement of on-time parts delivery.  This position will report to the Inventory Service Manager, and have the opportunity to work with all Molecular Devices service organizations worldwide to develop processes and strategies that assure customer satisfaction with service.


  • Drive on-time delivery of service parts
  • Maintain min/max stocking levels for new and refurbished service parts
  • Manage build plan for legacy parts, refurbished parts, and CPO instruments 
  • Manage return of service parts to inventory from receipt
  • Manage service parts inventory tracking globally 
  • Create and maintain forecasts for service part usage
  • Create and manage Kanban system for CPO raw inventory
  • Source and purchase parts for service CPO 

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of inventory/ planning experience 
  • Proven experience with problem solving process
  • Proven experience with DMP and MRP
  • Demonstrated initiative  -  has track record of taking initiative to proactively solve difficult problems and lead projects
  • Results oriented – has track record of delivering results, takes ownership and is accountable
  • Stretch oriented – embraces and thrives on challenge
  • Effective interpersonal skills including written and oral communication.
  • Highly organized with acute attention to detail
  • Continuous improvement oriented – participates in Kaizens, has familiarity with lean principles and how to apply them
