You will be responsible for the development of new features and enhancements of medical digital insight software products for Leica Microsystems. This includes, specifically, PC-based application software for controlling Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) devices, for integration of OCT devices with Leica’s medical microscopes, and for  acquiring, processing, and managing images produced by the OCT devices, the microscopes, or other peripheral devices. Your primary activities include writing design requirements and specifications, implementing software that meets the design requirements, writing design documentation, performing unit and integration testing, and providing ongoing technical support. In addition, you'll be responsible for the commercial release and maintenance of existing software products. This position also provides engineering support to marketing and business development as to the feasibility, effort estimation, and risk analysis associated with proposed software product development. You will also works in conjunction with hardware engineers to perform research into new data acquisition and signal analysis techniques.

  • Design and implement software solutions for Leica Microsystems OCT products
  • Document designs and test cases
  • Present design proposals to the team and actively participate in design discussions with other teammates
  • Ensure software solutions are implemented in accordance to the Leica Product Development Process, ensuring deliverables adequately meet quality, safety, regulatory, maintainability, and reliability standards 
  • Support applications specialists and service personnel to diagnose and resolve and/or propose solutions with customer requests and issues.

Job Requirements


  • BS Degree in computer science, engineering or related technical discipline
  • 2+ years’ experience in PC-based software application development
  • C# and C++
  • Microsoft .NET Framework
  • Visual Studio Development Environment
