Pall Corporation’s Research and Development Team located in Westborough, Massachusetts is seeking an exceptional, research-focused scientist to contribute to new product development for viral vector purification.

The Senior R&D Scientist, Chromatography will utilize his/her experience in downstream purification to develop world class products for our customers. He/She will be responsible for conducting hands-on prototype evaluations, scalability testing to develop performance maps, and product benchmarking in the area of downstream processing focusing on chromatography. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute experiments required to define and/or evaluate new products and/or processes; participate in cross-functional teams gathered to either resolve a specific issue and/or develop a specific product

  • Conduct data analysis, utilize analytical instruments, and perform characterization studies with biological products

  • Build new experimental setups and/or proficient to work with semi- and/or fully-automated skids and data acquisition tools to increase the efficiency of the application work

  • Communicate effectively through technical reports and presentations 

  • Contribute to publications submitted to technical journals and present in scientific conferences

  • Comply with legal requirements by adhering to existing and new regulations and legislation and all company policies and procedures

  • Work in a manner that supports collaboration

  • Ensure a safe and healthy environment by complying with all company safety policies and procedures

Job Requirements



  • PhD in Biological Sciences/Chemical Engineering/Biochemical Engineering with 3 years of industrial and/or research experience in downstream processing, filtration, and protein characterization, or

  • Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Biological Sciences with 5 years of industrial and/or research experience in downstream processing, filtration and protein characterization

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Chromatography experience preferentially of Gene Therapy virus vectors (AAV and Lentivirus) along with associated assay experience; DOE, Minitab
