Description

Position Objective:
An opportunity has become available for an R&D Engineer to join the team in Portsmouth.  In this role you will join a multidisciplinary team engaged in a series of technical projects focusing on different aspects of filter design and research. Your specific role will be applying your filter design and manufacturing experience to develop a deeper scientific understanding of various products/processes, as well as creating new, game-changing innovations.

In this role the R&D Engineer will be:
• Using filter design and manufacturing experience to understand the fundamentals of filtration technologies.
• Design, conduct and analyse results of experiments.
• Designing, building, validating and maintaining R&D rigs/equipment.
• Identifying and understanding potential improvements to product design, manufacturing processes and test procedures.
• Generating and interpreting results to a high technical standard, applying previous experience and recommend actions where applicable.
• Writing technical reports and presentations, including effective communication of results to management and other team members.

- Strategic Sourcing

The role will involve:
• Working with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
• Working with Product Engineering and Media R&D teams at multiple sites.
• Understanding the commercial viability of projects and products.
• Supporting other members of the team with advice and expertise.

Job Requirements



Qualifications

The successful applicant will have:
• Filter design and manufacturing knowledge.
• Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in a scientific or engineering discipline.
• Experience managing technical projects.
• Data analysis and problem solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• The ability to plan and manage their own workload to agreed deadlines, and to conduct and manage technical tasks with minimal supervision.

Experience in the following would be desirable:
• Experience post-degree working in a technical, manufacturing or R&D role.
• Experience with CAD.
