Description

• Single point of contact for strategic and tactical procurement on hardware development projects.

• Support Value Analysis/ Value Engineering (VAVE) and New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.

• Create and monitor to a procurement strategy to reduce risk and ensure timely delivery for project deliverables.

• Maintain a summary of orders and delivery dates to ensure part level management and accurate information is available to the project team via standardized metrics for daily management reviews.

• Work closely with project team members such as Project Managers, designers, etc., to proactively plan and manage long lead components and initiate risk buys to meet project dates to enable faster time to market of new designs

• Ensure the timely supply of all parts to support new product development builds. 

• Review and approve engineering designs (ECO) to ensure sourcing and purchasing feasibility. 

• Tender quotations and purchase goods as required for all phases of product development from concept through to product launch in accordance with specification and bills of materials.

• Work closely with Procurement Engineers and Global Sourcing Commodity Managers on supplier identification and selection. Understand vendor’s capabilities through the preferred vendor list or Approved Vendor List (AVL). 

• Interface closely with Project Engineers and Project managers as the primary contact between vendors and product development.

• Ensure that all problems which impact cost, delivery and quality are escalated and quickly resolved. 

• At project completion, disposition excess material as required. 

• Work closely with receiving, stores, and QC to solve any quality, delivery and part identification issues. 

• Work with finance to ensure all invoice, pricing, and standard cost discrepancies are setup and resolved within timeframe required.  

• Be able to support the design transition to manufacturing site in Singapore through engineering changes, and planning and procurement functions. 

• Collaborate with the production buyer (in Singapore) to establish risk management and materials planning on parts, tracking and setting inventories at vendors.

• Create and maintain all relevant documentation as per ISO requirements and use ISO Work Instructions to guide daily activities.

• Ensure compliance of operations within area of concern with all relevant EHS regulatory requirement and SCIEX safety policies, procedures and guidelines. 

• Other duties/ ad hoc tasks as assigned.

Job Requirements



Qualifications



  • Degree or Diploma in engineering/business or equivalent

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in planning/purchasing experience in a high-tech environment (electronics, aerospace, automotive, manufacturing industries)

  • Graduate or actively enrolled in an accredited supply chain management program

  • Good in MS excel.

  • Be adept and experienced with sourcing and planning for technically complex hardware systems consisting of variety of commodities including electronics, sheet metal, complex machining and key technology systems 

  • Ability to read and understand engineering design documentation including fabrication drawings

  • Good understanding of BOM structures

  • Previous experience in sourcing for product development and complex designs will be advantageous

  • Working experience with Oracle and Lean Manufacturing is an asset

  • Some knowledge in 3rd Party Logistic (3PL) is preferred

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
