Position Summary:
We are currently seeking a Product Engineer in our Fajardo, Puerto Rico location.

In this key role you will be responsible for cooperating with Quality and Manufacturing teams to successfully implement improvements to new and modified products for filtration.  Responsible for bringing conceptual equipment, products, and processes to efficient reality. Responsible for developing validation test plans, including writing and executing engineering studies, and full scale manufacturing prototype runs, as per Design of Experiments.  Act as design authority for legacy products and resolve existing manufacturing issues as needed. Execute material changes and manufacturing site transfers if needed.

As the Product Engineer you will report to Engineer Manager based at manufacturing site. Often you will act independently to represent manufacturing interests associated with development and implementation of operational programs.  

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Study standard manufacturing processes; seek and implement improvements which can enhance product quality and process control. 
  • Design and execute validations of new and transferred products. 
  • Provide support and technical leadership to other departments within the manufacturing site as a member of the design authority team. 
  • Performs routine and new protocol analyses and calculations.  Work independently for new protocol development processes.
  • Align materials, equipment, and manufacturing processes to customer needs based on application-centered feedback. 
  • Evaluate requests for new and modified products from the market, and assess which requests should be proposed to management for approval. 
  • Train Manufacturing Engineers, Operators, and Technicians on new and revised processes. 
  • Develop and refine meaningful sampling plans for product and process testing. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering 
  • 5+ years' proven product engineering experience in medical or biopharm arena
  • 5+ years’ experience with GMP and diligent change control.
  • 3 years’ experience with statistical software and design of experiments. (SPC)
  • 3+ years'  familiarity with Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA)
  • 5+ years’ experience working with chemicals. 
  • 3+ years’ experience in Product Design Experience utilizing Design for Manufacturing/Assembly concepts.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3+ years knowledge of fluid mechanics and plumbing (microfluidics a plus).
  • M.S. in Engineering 
  • Mechanical Engineer Degree
  • Six Sigma Experience
  • CAD, ProE OR Creo, Inventor, and similar software 
  • Experience with New Products, Transfers, and Modified product introductions
  • Experience writing Validation protocols, executing validations (IQ/OQ/PQ), and writing summary reports
