Description

Great opportunity to join a high-energy global plastics engineering team supporting development and manufacturing of diagnostic medical devices and consumables.  As a key member of the team, the incumbent will have responsibility for performing tooling, process, and validation engineering activities supporting multiple Beckman Coulter, Inc. business locations and product lines.



The incumbent will lead and participate in cross-functional project teams, interfacing with other internal departments such as Product Development, Value Engineering, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, and Purchasing.   Regular collaboration with local, domestic, and international suppliers is also required to achieve objectives related to new product introduction, value engineering, operational efficiency, and quality improvement.  



Responsibilities: 



  • Project goals include supporting the launch of new plastic & elastomer products into manufacturing and developing improvements to existing products and processes.  

  • Daily engineering duties include raw material selection, design for manufacturing (DFM) analysis, development of manufacturing processes, and design/build/sustainment of tooling & automation machinery assets.  

  • Job duties also include prototyping, feasibility testing, and creation of manufacturing work instructions, verification testing, and creation of validation protocol documents in compliance with company, ISO, & FDA standards. 


Job Requirements



Qualifications

Basic Requirements:  



  • Minimum B.S. Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering Technology, Plastics Engineering

  • M.S. degree in related engineering field a plus.  

  • Minimum 2 years engineering experience focused on plastics and injection molding.  

  • Knowledge of polymer materials, plastic product design for manufacturing (DFM), and injection molding process development, and tooling engineering required.  

  • Ability and willingness to travel to local, domestic, and international locations approximately 25%.



Preferred requirements: 



  • Expertise in using Moldflow® and Minitab software, design of experiments for injection molding, and scientific process development techniques for injection molding highly desirable. 

  • Experience working with automated SPC systems, blow molding, thermoforming, LSR molding, castings, and structural foam molding also highly desirable
