Job Summary/Description:
The Senior Systems Test Engineer participates in the test planning, test development and test execution of Microbiology laboratory instruments and networked hardware/software systems.
The candidate will test end-of-life replacement components (i.e. computers, peripherals, and operating system images), network connectivity, and software compatibility as part of our computer lifecycle management program. The candidate will work with a core team and the computer vendor to ensure all end-of-life replacement components are validated prior to depletion of inventory. The candidate will design, develop, and execute test plans and procedures, create test summary reports, and implement innovative and effective test designs while assuring appropriate test coverage. The candidate may be responsible for investigating system and networking issues and successfully determining root causes. The candidate may lead and/or participate on cross-functional product research and development teams. The candidate will also configure and manage test network infrastructure and VLANs, and administer Windows Server for the test network environment.
•Design, develop, and execute test plans and test cases, and create test summary reports.
•Validate computer hardware/software end-of-life replacement components.
•Prepare appropriate documentation as required by internal quality system and regulatory agencies (e.g. FDA, ISO). 
•Support project activities such as planning, scheduling, and risk management.
•Participate in technical decisions affecting product modules and/or subsystems, including functional specifications, technical reviews, and source code inspections.
•Investigate hardware, software, network, and system problems using a variety of testing techniques.
•Support and troubleshoot test framework and environments.
•Collaborate with distributed, cross-functional teams to develop appropriate test procedures and determine root causes for failures.
•May represent function as a core team member on cross-functional projects.
•Configure, manage, and support test network infrastructure and VLANs.
•Administer Windows Server for test network environment.
•Develop and/or use software test tools, which may include automated test tools (e.g. TestComplete).
•Participate in ideation, implementation, and sustainment of departmental process improvements.


Job Requirements


Required Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or a related field with 5+ years of related experience OR Master’s degree in field with 3+ years of experience.
•Experience with tools for test planning, test execution, defect management, and requirements management (HP-ALM, Doors, Requisite Pro, or equivalent). Experience with HP-ALM is highly preferable.
•Experience with test design/development, test execution, test environment configuration, and test reporting of networked hardware/software systems.
•Familiarity with computer and peripheral networking.
•Strong communication, organization, and problem solving skills.
•Ability to work with cross-functional and remote teams.

Desired Qualifications:
•Experience with product development lifecycle in a regulated environment (FDA, ISO).
•Experience with computer lifecycle management.
•Experience with medical device design and development.
•Familiarity with development and support of automated test methods and tools.
•Experience with exploratory testing.
•Experience with configuration and support of networks, VLANs, and firewalls/ACLs.
•Experience with administration of Windows Server.
•Applicable networking/IT certifications (e.g. Cisco, Microsoft).
•Understanding of OSI network model.
•Experience with Wireshark.
•Experience with network and computer cybersecurity.
•Familiarity with 802.1 technologies, security and authentication, Kerberos, LDAP and RADIUS servers, domain controllers, Exchange servers, CA servers, smart card provisioning stations, etc.
•Familiarity with network penetration and vulnerability testing.
•Experience in a microbiology/clinical laboratory.
