About The Role


This is a great opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Hardware Engineering & Manufacturing team. In this role the candidate is required to provide functional, robust, reliable and ergonomic Hardware designs from marketing specifications and R&D Technical and system specification of all Industrial Ink Jet printers developed by R&D. The candidate will work closely with the rest of the design team as well as within a wider multi-functional R&D team being responsible for generating ideas/concepts, individually as well as in a team, and then producing 3D and other necessary documents for proof of concepts and discussions, as well as final designs and detailing, at the end of development.


About The Person


You are hardworking, willing to tackle new projects and deliver results on time to required standards. Ideally, you will be happy doing hands on assembly and test work related to design verification. You will also be able to express technical matters adequately, both orally and in writing and use MS word, PP, Excel. A fast learner is required, someone who is seeking development within the Engineering team with guidance and mentoring from the senior members.


Key Responsibilities

  • System-level and detailed design of complex mechanical, electromechanical ink jet components such as; print head, cabinet, ink systems using various materials including metal, plastic & rubber.
  • Component design using 3D modelling, Engineering simulations and hand calculation.
  • Assembly modelling of complete printer with deign for assembly, functionality and reliability in mind.
  • Detail design – including 2D drawing and tolerance analysis; and produce production drawings/specs, ensuring all
  • DFMEA and Prototype own design to prove principle and carry out necessary tests, including any safety/regulatory requirements. Basic hands on experience would be required.
  • Conduct & analyze prototype tests and document test; then update design/system accordingly.
  • Participate, and where necessary be responsible for, technical reviews & feasibility studies discussion/presentation 
  • Support current products as and when required; with good problem-solving techniques, (Theory & Practice)
  • As a senior member of the Mechanical Design Department, provide support and mentor Junior Engineers and Engineering technicians – via test plans and tasks follow up.

Key Requirements

  • Experience of working in a Product Development Environment, (preferably products containing hardware, fluid system and electronics)
  • Generating ideas – innovative and proactive
  • Engineering discipline applications to concepts and final designs
  • Experience of using 3D modelling, (preferably Solidworks), in terms of skill and speed; also work within PDM.
  • Analytical, evidence driven approach, both hand calculation and computer simulations, (FEA)
  • Dedicated and hardworking team-player, happy in a pressured but highly productive environment with ability to help/work on multiple projects.

Desirable Experience

  • Min of 5 year experience in full time workplace (preferable).
  • Understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles, and good theoretical knowledge.
  • Experience and training of Computer Aided Design 3D and 2D, (preferably Solid Works CAD)
  • Some basic knowledge of reliability and an understanding of how they apply to the design
