Description

Cepheid is currently searching for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer supporting molecular diagnostics equipment. We need your valuable broad spectrum of experience as part of Cepheid’s hardware sustaining engineering team. The primary responsibilities will be supporting our current platforms, improving, and implementing product & process improvements within our operations and integrating new solutions into the production environment. This role will interface with all levels of the company and collaborates with Engineering, SW, Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, Regulatory, Service, and Contract Manufacturer as well as other cross-functional teams. The role also manages testing and qualifying of changes to verify they meet design requirements and industry standards. The individual is responsible for the quality of new hardware product designs. Most importantly, the candidate exhibits the desire and ability to collaborate and excel in teamwork and communication, be able to work independently with minimum guidance.
  • PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide high quality technical support to internal and external customers.
    • Requires in-depth knowledge and experience of design approaches and design input requirement. Independently research solutions, troubleshoot and resolve complex engineering problems by analyzing existing product issues and performance. Analyzes data, conducts experimental tests and evaluates results.
    • Applies multiple engineering disciplines to plan, organize and conduct technical projects within design, fabrication, modification and evaluation of new or enhanced hardware products or systems. Projects may involve exploration of products and/or process problems, definition and selection of new concepts and approaches, origination or modification of material, component and process specifications and requirements.
    • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and apparatus, such as electric motors, sensors,  machinery controls, PCBA, cable harness, touch screen, LCD, battery, printer, and scanner.
    • Designs, develops, and implements cost-effective methods of testing and troubleshooting systems and equipment at contract manufacturing (CM) production line.
    • Perform DFM and DFMEA reviews within electronic design group, with CM and suppliers
    • Create ECO, and released documentation in Agile. Document findings in detail report, and present findings to cross functional Core team.

    • Liaise with Operations to support internal test equipment and programs to ensure the continuity of product flow and quality.
    • Review vendor and contract manufacturer capability to support product & process improvement.
    • Provide engineering technical support to the field.
    • All other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements



Qualifications

  • REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (MINIMAL COMPETENCIES)

    • BSME, BSEE or equivalent experience of electronic and mechanical hardware.
    • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of related work experience
    • Minimum of 8 years of specific knowledge of Engineering/Manufacturing processes.
    • Experience with medical device systems.
    • Experience with test fixture design, process improvement process.
    • Proficient in SolidWork, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio
    • Knowledge of Agile, medical regulatory process.
    • Candidate will have specific knowledge of Engineering/Manufacturing processes used in medical device manufacturing with qualification and validations knowledge.
    • Independently manage day-to-day project activities such as prototyping, designing, testing, etc
    • Detailed knowledge of Design Control processes
    • Ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of people and departments within the company
    • Able to communicate effectively and professionally with customer, suppliers, and other people outside the company
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong technical analytical skills including FMEA, tolerance analysis, and statistical methods.
    • Travel as required.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Masters degree in field with 3+ years of relevant experience.
    • Candidate has demonstrated leadership skill leading team for root cause analysis.
