Description

This position supports the development of the Danaher Business System (DBS) culture within our Research and Development organization by actively leading, promoting and facilitating the use of DBS tools and methods.  This high influence position will interface with associates at all levels and various functions departments within the Business Unit and Operating Company.  

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Consistently models Danaher, DBS culture by proposing and enforcing use of DBS tools when problems are identified, goes to Gemba to demonstrate what is expected, calls out behavior that does not meet Danaher, DBS standards, and guides associates to see issues – expose problems wherever they are so they can be solved.
  • Ensure successful kaizen events by installing and ensuring compliance to the kaizen process; (1) planning of kaizens with a dynamic funnel process tied to PD and Daily Management, (2) kaizen execution and (3) sustainment of kaizens.
  • Assist in the development of a DBS Roadmap and be an active Leader in Policy Deployment and Daily Management reviews (as appropriate).
  • Provides hands-on coaching on key tool deployment by attending core team meetings, daily stand-ups and other key project events to deliver “just-in-time” coaching.
  • Develops organizational DBSL funnel enabled through the OTA process, and provides support, coaching and visibility of top talent who are on an MBB track for a growth tool.
  • Creates and maintain a PSP culture by holding PSP office hours for walk-ins and scheduled coaching, and facilitates PSP training sessions at least once per year.
  • Practices DBS transparency and reliance of facts to help leadership team tackle difficult problems and overcome organizational complexities and detailers.
  • Works with the business unit leadership team to develop the annual Policy Deployment matrix, Improvement Priorities, TTIs and targets.
  • Drives targeted, sustainable improvement in QDCI (Quality, Delivery, Cost and Innovation) results that are tied to Policy Deployment (PD) and Daily Management (DM)by leveraging DBS tools, consulting skills, and change management process.
  • Supports the “black dot owners” in the Policy Deployment matrix and enable the achievement of breakthrough results in Policy Deployment and Strategic Plan.
  • Contribute to the evolution of the DBS tools (main contact here is DBS Office or DBSO).
  • Encourages and facilitates cross-op-co learning through benchmarking.

Job Requirements



Qualifications

  • Minimum of 9 years of relevant experience in Operations, Quality, Engineering, R&D, or Project / Program Management discipline with 2-3+ years of applied lean / continuous improvement experience.
  • Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt certification and experience in industry is desirable. Mastery of a variety of DBS tools (Growth related DBS Tools) will be preferred.
  • Ability to handle conflict and be an independent worker, capable of operating in a fast-moving, every changing environment and able to effectively deal with difficult situations.
  • Strong analytical skills and applied knowledge of a problem solving process with a Process thinking mindset.
  • Superior facilitation and training skills with proven ability to collaborate in a team environment - knows when to lead and when to follow.
  • Must be hands-on and detail-oriented but also able to see the big picture with good writing and administrative skills, including computer skills (word processing, graphics, spreadsheet, etc.)
  • Superior consulting, influencing, communication and customer facing skills with the ability to work with cross-functional teams globally.
  • Hands-on experience leading deployment of several DBS growth tools: PPG standard work, VPM, SDR, DSS / Agile, PSP, UX-DNA, VoC, Launch excellence, P2P is preferred.
  • A proven DBS growth leader with engineering leadership track-record and DBS experience is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, listening, interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Independence and good judgment, positive attitude, and an innovative spirit.
