Position Summary 
The Sr. Global Content Marketing Manager will think like a marketer and publish like a journalist.  Working across a global organization, this individual is responsible for developing, curating, managing and distributing compelling early stage / awareness content based on a thorough understanding of customer needs, business objectives, and best practices.  This content will include articles, blog posts, videos, podcasts, and case studies. 
Additionally, this individual will play a key role in driving the company’s reputation, measured by brand awareness.
At its core, this role is about creating thought leadership content and compelling value propositions across the portfolio and stories that showcase the value of Leica Biosystems. The ideal candidate is someone who loves to create process, write, is a storyteller, marketer, and has B2B public relations experience.  A successful candidate will be able to articulate complex content into simple soundbites and compelling stories that drive engagement.
The Sr. Manager will partner with business and strategic stakeholders, work with cross functional teams and leadership and interface with Sr. Leadership in the organization.  The Sr. Manager may lead and manage direct report(s).

Major Responsibilities 

Brand Management & Equity
  • Conceive and execute a broad range of brand initiatives that position Leica Biosystems as an industry leader.
  • Actively monitor competition to benchmark brand, messaging, content breadth and engagement.  
  • Drive value prop development to ensure differentiation.

Content Marketing
  • Proactively monitor and understand customer and market trends to inform content strategy, topic roadmap, and create thought-leadership content positioning Leica Biosystems as an innovator.
  • Lead the development of compelling and engaging early stage awareness content that connects customers with Leica Biosystems. Curate and edit content as needed.  
  • Collaborate with the Workflow Optimization team to take case statistics and transform them into short stories to engage customers.
  • Develop and maximize the quality of content produced by a creative network: writers, designers, video creators.

Customer Engagement
  • Stay abreast of trends and new thinking to drive deep customer engagements.
  • Leverage analytics and commercial insights to develop fresh and relevant content strategies and content.
  • Manage a variety of external communication tasks including developing press releases, key messaging, talking points and maintaining up-to-date media and blogger lists for outreach purposes, investigating and researching information needed to respond to media inquiries.
  • Evaluate efforts using metrics & analytics, building upon successful campaigns/initiatives.
  • Test new tactics and messaging options. Continually refine based on analytics and customer insights

Job Requirements


Required Education, Experience, Skills

Education:  Bachelor Degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications or relevant discipline.  


  • 7 – 10 years marketing, content marketing and management experience
  • 5+ years of experience working in PR/Communication role developing, executing and integrating communications plans, preferably in healthcare.
  • Track record of developing marketing messages and content.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and managing direct reports, agencies and freelance.
  • Experience establishing & maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization, senior editors, news reporters, etc.

Desired Education, Experience, Skills

Education:  MBA preferred.


  • Prior experience as a marketing manager or strategic marketing a plus (to include segmentation, customer experience, personas, customer profiles, positioning, identifying unique points of differentiation, competitive intelligence).
  • A solid understanding of Leica Biosystems market or solutions and the needs they fulfil for customers.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required as this is a high visibility position, interacting with multiple external and internal constituents across all levels of associates, including L1 Sr. Management

Travel: International travel is required in this role as part of the responsibilities of this position; estimated 2 – 3 times/year
