Description

Position Summary:

The Senior Financial Analyst is a critical role within the finance team and a principle financial advisor to our businesses and senior management. This position will review and validate financial results for actuals, forecast, budget and strategic plan submissions. This role incorporates a unique blend of financial planning and analysis with classic accounting skills. The incumbent will classify, review financial data, and provide interpretation of results for use by all levels of management. 

The Senior Financial Analyst collaborates closely with corporate personnel and is a key point of contact for operating companies (OpCos) in regards to accounting and reporting issues. Career progression opportunities exist within finance teams at our OpCos and within the corporate finance organization.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Reviews and validates each OpCo’s actual and forecasted financial results on a monthly basis, and provides analytical reports of business performance to senior management.
  • Reviews the geographic growth submissions by OpCo, and distributes final geographic reports to senior management on a monthly basis.
  • Prepares monthly report of core value drivers (i.e. eight key business metrics) for distribution to Chief Financial Officer and senior management on a monthly basis. 
  • Participates in and supports annual Strategic Planning efforts and annual Budgeting process.
  • Reviews the weekly sales and bookings submissions by OpCo, and distributes results to CEO, CFO and other senior management on a weekly basis.
  • Leads the tracking and reporting of historical and recent acquisitions
  • Prepares quarterly presentations detailing financial results, key metrics, competitor benchmarking, and geographic trends for the Board of Directors meetings.
  • Leads the incentive compensation process for each OpCo. Works with the OpCo CFOs to establish financial targets at the beginning of the year, and reviews and approves the results at year-end with the CAO.
  • Leads the cycle count approval process for each location. Reviews the submissions and approves the results once a year with the CAO.
  • Navigates within Hyperion Financial Management (HFM), and pulls financial data directly from HFM in Excel (through SmartView) every day.
  • Prepares ad hoc financial reports in a timely and accurate manner for business CFOs and Corporate Finance leadership. 
  • Acts as a resource for OpCo personnel in interpretations of Danaher’s Finance policies.
  • Plays a leading role in evaluating and implementing changes to improve processes within the organization.

Most important competencies required:

  • Associate will be evaluated on ability to function as both a team member and team leader. 
  • Proficiency in Planning & Analysis and accounting are expected. Integration into the finance team will be rapid with expectations of leadership qualities demonstrated quickly. 
  • Candidate will demonstrate a passion for results.
  • The incumbent will be required to work independently yet manage multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • They will have demonstrated the ability to analyze and translate financial information and results into workable information for communication to and use of operating management. 
  • A working knowledge of GAAP is expected.
  • Conduct detailed business and financial analyses to identify potential problems, determine root causes, and recommend appropriate solutions
  • Successfully support functional and operating unit leaders to understand and improve financial results on a sustainable basis
  • Lead the effort to consistently deliver the results

  • Must be hands-on and detail-oriented but also able to see the big picture. 
  • Need to be able to think strategically and view the business from a general management standpoint as well as from a financial perspective. 
  • Person must be able to work well in a cross-functional, matrixed organization. 
  • Must be very customer focused in terms of providing accurate financial information to the senior executive team. 
  • The individual must be a professional who can deliver results and develop the talent in their group. Must have strong interpersonal and communications skills. 
  • This individual will be a strong communicator, team player who is well versed in the details but capable of bridging finance to senior management with a broad, business-oriented organization. 
  • Will need to be a quick study who can rapidly adapt to Danaher’s culture and gain the confidence of the Danaher Leadership Team.
  • This person will be high energy and able to handle conflict. 
  • Will be an independent worker, capable of operating in a fast-moving, ever changing environment and able to make tough, difficult accounting and financial-related decisions.
  • The individual must be able to drive and manage change, be non-political, creative and possess a strong desire to win and passion to excel and integrate the finance team into a lean, efficient, results-oriented organization.

Education and/or experience:
  • BS or BA Degree in Finance or Accounting required; CPA is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in a large international accounting firm is preferred.
  • Strong global business perspective with understanding of a multinational organization with multiple business units is preferred
