Description

The Senior Financial Analyst based in Brea, CA, provides analytical and decision support to financial, strategic marketing, R&D management by developing, interpreting and implementing financial concepts for financial planning, analysis and control, including budgeting, forecasting and reporting. Working closely with the teams supporting the $2.4B Chemistry and Immunoassay BU, the incumbent provides analytical support for business decisions.  Work performed will include financial analysis and modeling of top-line revenue for new product launches, associated costs and development costs.  The incumbent will be required to review and improve modeling processes and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. 


The responsibilities for this opportunity include:
  • Serve as the primary Finance partner of the Chemistry Strategic Marketing team
  • Develop/maintain financial models of Chemistry new product development projects to assist in the R&D project prioritization process  
  • Assist in the preparation, consolidation and submission of internal financial management reports and other deliverables
  • Assist in the monthly preparation of the financial forecast and analyze variations from forecasts and prior periods to provide accurate explanations for variances
  • Provide quantitative analysis, project management and tracking of key initiatives and metrics
  • Support of the strategic planning process
  • Prepare quarterly Chemistry Finished Goods inventory reserve analyses 
  • Focus on process improvement to drive financial results in the area of Revenue, Operating Profit & Working Capital
  • Support the ongoing implementation and improvement in the global R&D planning and reporting tools
  • Support Oracle Projects worldwide to ensure that Life Sciences and Diagnostics projects are costed accurately and on-time.  Support the implementation of Oracle Projects in new countries, as needed
  • Support BU specific metric reporting (New Product Development, Reliability, Vitality, etc.)

The ideal candidate should possess excellent analytical and communication skills, show strong financial systems knowledge and have the ability to work with a sense of focused urgency in a challenging and dynamic environment.

Qualifications

Required:

  • A minimum of a Bachelors Degree and a Minimum of five (5) years of related experience is required.
  • Ability to interact with upper management and capability to present and explain financial data and analysis to both finance and non-finance audiences
  • Strong research and analysis skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities
  • Proficient knowledge of Excel, Word, and advanced level PC skills.

Preferred:

  • Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting or Finance
  • MBA and / or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) a plus
  • Familiarity with Oracle EBS and SAP – Business Planning and Consolidations (BPC) a plus.
