Description

The Senior Director Sales and Service (m/f)  – Region Mid is a key leadership role in Hach’s European and Global commercial organizations, and manages all domestic and international sales and service in the € 120 million Mid region. The individual is responsible for developing and leading a professional sales organization that achieves maximum sales revenue, volume, profitability, market share and customer mindshare.  This individual will also provide critical input to strategic planning efforts for the sales organization, including structure and team members.




Leadership:




  • Develop and maintain sales goals and objectives that are in alignment with the company goals and objectives

  • Plan, approve, monitor, and meet the annual Hach regional sales plan and budget

  • Develop and maintain annual regional sales and service operations plan and objectives

  • Develop and maintain annual regional sales and service budget and resource plan

  • Interact with Hach’s senior management group globally as necessary to communicate and provide awareness on regional sales and service plans and issues



Management:




  • Manage projects/major sales opportunities.  Review, assign resources, monitor progress, meet agreed upon due dates and budgets of the Hach regional sales operations. Coordinate intra-company regional sales operations initiatives and activities

  • Manage development of and adherence to policies and procedures. Provide direction in implementing policies and procedures to ensure quality, consistency of communication, expectations, and customer service

  • Manage interdepartmental issues. Serve as a link between your employees and other company personnel discussing issues with other management to drive to a resolution in a timely manner

  • Manage personnel issues and resolve in a timely manner

  • Manage rewards, recognize and acknowledge good performance

  • Prepare and deliver annual performance reviews on time. Review and submit annual changes to the regional sales incentive plan and salary adjustment

  • Support and assist management in identifying where change will be beneficial to the company/department, promote change, be supportive of change and help accomplish change

Communication:




  • Provide timely, open communication to all Hach customers, distributors and personnel in the region

  • Communicate sales and operating plans, initiatives and performance to regional sales team, in a timely manner

  • Keep abreast of new technology and activities in industry

  • Keep abreast of industry sales trends

Job Requirements



Qualifications

The successful candidate will have demonstrated success leading a regional sales organization for a technical, complex, solution-oriented value proposition that includes equipment; consumables, services or other recurring-revenue components; and software. This person will have led or played a key role in a transformation from a product-oriented to a solution oriented business, and will be able to successfully drive a similar evolution to Hach’s existing sales force and customer base. The successful candidate with business models that utilize software to drive significant added value across bases of deployed equipment or infrastructure.




Key Experience and Attributes:




  • Minimum of 15 years of consistent, progressive sales experience within an organization known for having a high-performing, innovative sales function

  • Seven to 10 years of sales management experience, preferably across multiple regions

  • Experience driving a solution-sales value proposition that features equipment, consumables, service and software

  • Experience in business that serves similar customers or sells similar products is preferred

  • Formal sales training, with strong preference given to exposure to value selling concepts.

  • An established track record as a high-potential performer, with a solid trajectory of accomplishment and career progression

  • Delivers results; demonstrated success driving sales growth, customer expansion and market share growth

  • Process orientation with a proven track record of profitable growth and an excellent reputation for leadership in value-based selling process, six sigma and account management

  • Possesses strategic and tactical dimension and capabilities, able to analyze the market, competitors and company strengths and weaknesses while devising winning sales strategies 

  • Superior analytical skills and solid business acumen, with the ability to balance the needs of the marketplace with sound business judgment 



Education:




  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in chemistry, biology or environmental science.

  • MBA degree strongly preferred
