Job Description Summary: 
As part of the Systems group within the Research and Development organization, the Senior Development Scientist will have an exciting opportunity to utilize their knowledge to contribute to the design and development solutions for the Microbiology business.  This role requires thorough understanding of microbiology assay development and system validation. This position will help provide technical direction and guidance for projects.  The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and have a strong multi-discipline technical background with direct experience in the development of diagnostic devices used in laboratories.
* Coordinates and executes the testing of new and existing product designs.
* Coordinates and executes system validations to ensure customer needs are met.
* Analyzes data and provides solid rationales and conclusions in summary reports.
* Supports achieving project milestones. 

Job Requirements


The candidate needs to have a strong background in assay development and design controls. Success in this position will require:
* Demonstrated experience writing protocols, risk analysis, hazard analysis, product test and evaluation, verification and validation including all associated design control documentation. 
* Experience working within an ISO 13485 and FDA regulated environment
* Strong analytical skills, use of data to drive decisions, including Design of Experiments
* Strong ability to write, present and communicate verbally in a clear manner and be able to work in a multidisciplinary team environment 
* Effectively collaborates cross-functionally with i.e. program managers, product managers, business leaders, engineers, development scientists, clinical affairs, regulatory affairs, and quality engineering

Preferred qualifications include:
* Experience working in a BSL-2 laboratory environment with clinically important strains of bacteria and yeast.
* Expertise in application of Lean, 6-sigma, Kaizen and 5S principles to problem solving and continuous improvement

Educational Requirements: 
Bachelor’s degree in field with 5+ years of experience OR Master’s degree in field with 3+ years of experience OR Doctoral degree in field with 1+ years of experience.
