Job Description:

The Director, North American Sales is responsible for developing and implementing commercial strategies and objectives required to purposefully drive sales growth and profitability. This individual will work closely with other members of the leadership team to retain and expand the current customer base, equal to $50 million in revenue, and execute sales strategies to improve market share. Lead all aspects of a team of ambitious sales managers who are responsible for driving growth in their respective region (Western, Central, and Eastern US & Canada). The position will also lead a Level 1 policy initiative with a focus on commercial improvement, efficiency gains and market share capture. 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate strategic leadership capability and ability to shape a clear vision, translate the vision into strategies, actions and results.

• As a member of the USP leadership team, design and implement cross functional strategy to improve sales efficacy and efficiencies

• Contribute to overall database of prospects, as well as formulation of on-going programs to facilitate sales initiatives and knowledge of industry trends, economic pressures, and assess market competition to finesse sales forecast.

• Lead the execution of sales strategies by setting aggressive but realistic performance objectives and driving focus to ensure achievement.

• Review business plans and action plans for identified accounts to ensure objectives, goals, win strategies, schedules, and action assignments are clearly defined and assigned for execution.

• Identify, develop and retain talent to ensure the accomplishment of current and planned objectives and provide leadership to improve succession management, sales performance, and business continuity.

Job Requirements


  • Four-year college degree from accredited institution.
  • Travel expectations of 50% or more.
  • Experience leading large teams of commercial professionals within the Municipal and Industrial Water Treatment or adjacent industries.
  • Industry knowledge specific to water and wastewater treatment 
  • Dynamic Leader who can develop and deliver vision and strategy to our sales professionals and at the Executive level.
  • Excellent written/verbal communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Travel may be frequent dependent on size of assigned territory.
  • May require long hours & varied work schedules.  
  • Occasionally required to walk, sit, stand, climb (includes stairs and ladders), reach, balance, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk, hear, and smell.
  • Constantly using hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, and computer keyboards. 
  • Occasionally required to drive both short and long distances, not to exceed DOT regulations.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Infrequently may be required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 60 pounds.
  • The Physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 
  • Required to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for deliveries which may include: eye, hearing and respiratory protection, protective apron, steel toe shoes, gloves, hard hats, or face shields.
  • Occasionally in extreme heat conditions.
  • Required to use ear plugs for hearing protection. 
  • Both Indoor and outdoor sites may have high noise levels.
  • Outdoor site can be located at a cooling tower, water plant, wastewater plant, or a process area.
  • Use of hazardous chemicals is routine.
  • Trust and respect for customers and USP associates.
