The Research and Development Histotechnologist performs multiple and varied histological services supporting the efforts of the Leica Biosystems R&D group.  The duties include both routine and experiential activities that are defined by Project Scope and/or R&D driven investigations.

  • Provide routine services necessary for the operation of the R & D histology laboratory (grossing tissue, processing, sectioning, staining, production of control tissue blocks.)
  • Production of routinely used solutions and buffers.
  • Effectively communicate project progress and issues/risks to Scientific Project Leader/Manager
  • Provide expertise to R&D, QC, purchasing, sales and production departments
  • Analyze data from experiments and summarize data in a report format.
  • Exercises independent judgment in dealing with procedural and technical problems

Job Requirements


  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Histotechnology or Laboratory Science
  • Minimum 5 years-experience as a histotechnologist
  • Experience in general and special stain techniques as well as Immunohistochemistry, microtomy, fixation, tissue processing and embedding
  • Experience with multiple automated histology platforms.
  • Histotechnician or Histotechnologist ASCP Certification
  • Experience in a clinical setting, GDP for laboratory studies, and problem solving
  • Travel: Less than 5%
  • Capable of working effectively as an individual contributor or as a member of a team in order to meet goals and objectives
