Mammotome is a world leader in the field of breast tissue biopsy, markers, localization and lesion removal.  The Leader of Reliability and Customer Defect Tracking and Resolution (CDT&R) will drive the Mammotome reliability program using Danaher Customer Defect Tracking & Resolution methodology.  This individual is responsible for owning the full life cycle of reliability, from issue resolution, to root cause analysis and execution of engineering/manufacturing change.  This individual must possess strong leadership, analytical, project management and technical skills.  She or He will work hand in hand with QA/RA colleagues, engineering, and operations teams to ensure best-in-class product reliability.     

  • Own and drive Mammotome’s CDT&R program (customer defect tracking and resolution)
  • Manage a robust funnel of improvement opportunities across all quality improvement pillars (CDT&R tracker) using expert data analytical techniques; including PPM forecast/project funnel, anticipated resources, and execution/implementation timing.
  • Lead and facilitate monthly reviews of reliability scorecard with the Mammotome leadership team and ensure effective countermeasures in response to issues.
  • Collaborates with product design teams and individual engineers to analyze design concepts and recommend design and/or test methods for achieving specified reliability.
  • Plays a leading role developing, implementing, and sustaining a in supplier quality management system, working closely with the procurement team to track and improve supplier quality.
  • Understands manufacturing process control and will facilitate implementation of these processes on internal and external manufacturing of Mammotome products.
  • Owns full loop process of investigating product failures to root cause analysis and engineering or use model change implementation.
  • Effectively fosters communication of investigative and root cause findings to Customer Experience team, holds customer satisfaction paramount.
  • Owns deployment of KPIs (key performance indicators) and VM (visual management) to track and drive goals.
  • Analyzes failure data, investigates to drive to root cause and proposes countermeasures to improve reliability within cost and performance requirements.
  • Analyzes reliability data and maintains FIT/MTBF estimates for products.
  • Develop new test techniques and analytical tools as required to assure the early identification of potential problems with new products and processes.
  • Grow the reliability engineering department to provide the right capabilities and expertise for all products across all phases of product life.
  • Provides a high level of subject matter expertise to the organization in reliability engineering.
  • Responsible for direct reports and accomplishing work through outside resources (i.e., consultants, contractors, design suppliers). 
  • Takes a proactive role in ensuring that their team is properly staffed with respect to competencies/capabilities/attitudes, addressing any deficiencies through associate development or replacement
  • Leads staff performance management activities to improve capabilities and skills using objective setting and review process, performing appraisals, and coaching of individuals on development.

Job Requirements



  • Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in technical engineering (i.e., mechanical, biomedical, electrical), or related field, with mechanical or reliability emphasis preferred.

  • Advanced Degree in engineering is desirable but not required.

Required Skills/Experience

  • Equivalent of 7 years related work experience required; experience must include reliability, new product development or sustainability engineering.

  • Minimum of 2 years leadership responsibility required.

  • Medical device experience strongly preferred.

  • Strong understanding of the entire product development process

  • Regular use of design tools including CAD, GD&T, FMEA, Root Causes Analysis, 8D, DOE, tolerance stacks up and DFA, FRACAS.

  • Statistical knowledge and Minitab experience.

  • Ability to critique mechanical and electrical designs, providing constructive feedback for improvement with an eye toward design for reliability.

  • Lean, DBS, or other applicable continuous improvement process experience.

Travel Requirements
  • 20% travel with a mix of domestic and international locations
  • Frequent/Occasional overnight trips
