Regional Distribution Director EMEA FLSA

This position will be home based, with frequent travel to sites across the EMEA region.

Position Summary:

Leica Biosystems is a global leader in workflow solutions and automation used in Anatomical Pathology and Cancer Diagnostics. With continued strong global growth, Leica Biosystems (LBS) is continuing to invest in our Global Supply Chain organization.

The Regional Distribution Director EMEA will be a member of the Global Supply Chain leadership team, and will have responsibility for inbound and outbound logistics, distribution center operations management and regional trade compliance across the EMEA region.

This position will be accountable for driving continuous improvement in quality, service and cost year over year. The candidate will drive continued improvement of the LBS customer experience by using the Danaher Business System (DBS) lean tools. They will establish a regional distribution strategy which aligns to the EMEA business requirements, and ensure successful implementation and sustainment of process improvements.

Leica Biosystems sells a diverse range of Cancer Diagnostics and Pathology instruments and consumables internationally. Ideally the candidate will have proven experience of distribution and logistics management of dangerous goods, instruments, cold chain items through ocean, air, truck and small pack global transportation modes.

This position is considered a growth role within the organization with potential for expanded leadership opportunities. The candidate must have experience developing and managing regional teams. They will be comfortable networking with internal and external stakeholders and partners. They should also be excellent analysts and capable of taking complex data sets and distilling it into actionable information.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Continuously Improve employee engagement
  • Quality: minimization of product damage, loss and delivery failures
  • Delivery (OTIF to customer and warehouse fill rate)
  • Inventory management: Improve stock accuracy,
  • Optimization of transportation and distribution costs
  • Responsibility for regulatory compliance within logistics and distribution operations.
  • Manage, coach and develop their organization. Improve employee engagement year over year.
  • Responsible for developing and executing a European distribution strategy, which will drive optimal customer service, reduce operations costs and improve working capital turns.
  • Develop business plans for future investments and necessary business changes.
  • Responsibility for developing and managing logistics and distribution annual budgets.
  • Management of logistics contracts, payment and monthly accrual processes.
  • Implement regional logistics platform improvements such as FAP, WMS and TMS.

Job Requirements


Required Education, Experience, Skills:

Education:  Appropriate experience in EMEA Distribution and Logistics


  • Logistics and warehouse experience mandatory
  • Visionary leadership
  • Global leadership
  • Use of lean methodology and techniques to improve productivity, reduce cost, improve delivery performance
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with various disciplines and levels within the organization and outside the organization
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, establish targets, and develop implementation plans in support of business objectives

Desired Education, Experience, Skills:

Education:  Bachelor’s minimum, Master of Science, Master of Supply chain or/and MBA preferred


  • Worked in Healthcare/Life Science related industry
  • Manufacturing, sourcing, customer service experience preferred
  • Lean / Six Sigma


  • 50% Travel across the region
