Position Overview:

Healthcare spending in Latin America has been growing rapidly in recent years, including an increasing emphasis on infection control and disease prevention. Metrex, as a global player in the infection control industry, has been focusing on containing and reducing healthcare acquired infections. This growth in Latin America has been creating expansion opportunities for Metrex’s infection control business in the region.

Metrex has a growing distribution channel region with new dealers coming on in select markets in Latin America. In addition, on-going registration processes in various countries are advanced and will allow us to start the marketing and sales in those countries soon. To capitalize on these opportunities, Metrex is looking for a Business Development Manager to strengthen and grow its infection control business throughout the region.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meets monthly, quarterly and annual sales goals and projections for his/her assigned territory.

  • Is fully trained and knowledgeable on the Metrex infection control product line and has the ability to analyze competitors' products to effectively position Metrex's line in the market.

  • Learns and understands the structure of the Latin American infection control markets, hospital decision processes and establishes a go-to-market strategy based on short-, mid-, and long term sales prospects.

  • Works independently and proactively in developing, presenting and implementing market expansion strategies in line with the agreed plan.

  • Continually searches for, qualifies, recruits, trains and develops new distribution partners to maximize the sales potential in Latin America

  • Motivates dealers to proactively develop a market for Metrex's products in their assigned territories.

  • Supports dealers with governmental and private hospital tenders.

  • Visits and supports assigned dealers/customers on a regular basis to promote the company’s products, manage the dealer funnel and dealer purchases and sales-out targets. Holds dealers accountable for their assigned sales quotas.

  • Communicates and collaborates closely with management to discuss opportunities, threats and issues that require the management attention or the input of the cross-functional team

  • Understands and supports the company's sales policies and procedures to ensure dealer compliance with Danaher policies.

  • Collects, analyses and reports competitive information to the sales and marketing organizations.

  • Reports in a clear, concise manner about wins, losses, obstacles and is accountable for results achieved.

  • Liaise with Marketing to effectively manage marketing activities incl. trade shows, mailings promotional activities in the key markets.

  • Liaise with regulatory to support new product launch projects in Latin America.

Prepare periodic reports including:

  • Sales forecasts

  • Weekly reports

  • Monthly expense reports

  • General reports and all other reports as agreed to from time to time

  • Manage overlapping dealer interests/dealer conflicts.

  • Validate all dealer applications.

  • Update home office on regulatory changes governing medical devices in the region.

  • Completion and upkeep of all compliance materials to include: contracts, FCPA documents, screening processes and applications in conjunction with customer care.

  • Act in the company’s best interests at all time with high regard to integrity.

Job Requirements



  • Bachelor’s degree in business or chemistry with a business background

  • In-depth knowledge of the Latin American healthcare industry

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in international channel management in Latin America

  • Fluent in Spanish and English


  • Willing to travel up to 70% internationally

  • Well organized

  • Able to speak in front of audiences

  • Strong team player
