Pall has a range of single use bioreactors that is constantly being refined and updated to meet our customer needs. A position has become available for R&D Scientist II in Pall’s Biotech Process R&D team at the company’s New England Centre of Excellence in Westborough, MA. The team is responsible for process research support for new product developments within Pall.
This individual will work closely with Pall colleagues, including R&D, product management, sales, and manufacturing to ensure Pall technologies continue to serve the evolving needs of our customers in the bioprocess industry. 
  • Upstream cell culture using Pall single-use bioreactor systems 
  • Project planning and execution
  • Data analysis and preparation of technical presentations.
  • Technical report writing
  • Participate in ‘voice of the customer’ investigations to validate the design and usability of new devices 
  • Work in coordination with Pall's sales force to respond to customer requests for applications support, system optimization and undertake demonstrations, testing and evaluations of Pall technologies, both at Pall and at customer sites.  
  • Champion 5S and lean laboratory principles.
  • Assist Product Managers in the development of technical sales tools such as application notes, posters, oral presentations, and other publications.  
  • Provide application and product training support to the sales and marketing team as required.

Job Requirements


  • Bachelors in biological science / chemical engineering & minimum of 3+ years’ experience in mammalian cell culture
  • Highly experienced in cell culture techniques with both adherent and suspension cell lines
  • Experience of bioreactor operation and automated cell culture techniques
  • Good written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently to achieve defined goals and develop new processes.  
  • Ability to work well within a global, cross functional team
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Pall iCELLis adherent bioreactor system. 
  • Upstream production of gene therapy viral vectors (AAV, Lentivirus)
  • Analytical techniques such as ELISA, qPCR and viral transduction/infectivity assays
  • Experience with statistical analysis software
  • Some understanding of viral vector downstream purification processes
  • Some project management experience preferred
