Goal of the Position:
You will be part of the creative team behind our bioreactors and mixers, working on a strategic improvement program for iCELLis 500 and Xpansion. Working in close collaboration with our quality, manufacturing and product engineering team, you will make sure we can deliver outstanding quality to our customers, by leveraging usability and manufacturability and reducing complexity and cost.


You are focused on optimal design of the consumables of the bioreactors to achieve target goals for forecasted required output with the right quality level. 
You will be working from design concept, defining the specs, follow-up with suppliers of components until implementation in manufacturing 

  • Create design specs for projects based on customer requirements;
  • Help to improve the designs of our existing hardware and disposable devices;
  • Be able to create new designs, both mechanically and in some areas electrically, providing benefits and/or solving problems;
  • Identify and select relevant raw materials (plastics and steel), components, manufacturing/assembly processes (injection moulding, thermoforming, sheet metal, machining…) and suppliers necessary for the realization of the  products;
  • Follow-up, check and challenge suppliers’ progress;
  • Responsible for technical documentation of products and of the systems (mechanical and electrical drawings, technical specifications, FAT/IQ/OQ);
  • Provide practical and technical assistance to other engineers also outside local organization in design, assembly, manufacturing and maintenance tasks;
  • Create mock-ups/prototypes and perform functional and performance tests;
  • Listen, understand, translate internal and external customers’ requirements;
  • Write procedures, documentation and reports related to tests and tasks performed; 
  • Work in close collaboration with team members and other departments like internal sales, sourcing, quality, etc;
  • Foster innovation and actively contribute to innovation database;
  • Mentor other more junior engineers.

Job Requirements


Education, Skills and Competences:

  • Mechanical or (product/industrial) Design background;
  • 5-10 years of relevant professional experience;
  • Knowledge of 3D CAD (Solidworks/Inventor);
  • Strength calculations via software simulation is an asset;
  • Knowledge of regulatory like cGMP, USP, … is an asset;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English (company language), French and Dutch are assets;
