Purpose of Position
Provide leadership, direction and hands on involvement in quality, continuous improvement and Six Sigma problem solving to support Regensdorf X-Rite objectives. The Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting the Quality Management Process throughout Regensdorf Operations. Improve manufacturing processes & test methods. Work with Operations Management and key personnel to assure smooth production of products with highest obtainable quality and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
  • Drive ever-improving results in quality related Policy Deployment Improvement Priorities leveraging Danaher Business System (DBS) tools and processes.
  • Utilize statistical methods in analyzing manufacturing operations / product quality issues, driving to root-cause through strong problem solving, establishing countermeasures and implementing sustained corrective actions. May require performing capability studies to product / process specifications.
  • Represent Quality at a decision level on various cross functional Management teams to help ensure products and processes are designed, developed, documented and released to meet appropriate regulations and business requirements.
  • Champion projects as well as provide input and recommendations for the identification and selection of projects to grow the funnel to improve our Quality System.
  • Support and at times lead Quality Procedures for ISO9001 certification.
  • As problems are escalated through associates, Engineering Review Boards, work independently with management, technical staff, affiliates, and suppliers worldwide in performing root cause failure analysis. Suggest and implement corrective and preventive action solutions.
  • Direct workers engaged in measuring and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.
  • Facilitate / conduct continuous improvement workshops within the organization to improve quality and ensure results are sustained.
  • Support, coach and mentor both manufacturing operations associates in the way of strategic thinking and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure vendor quality by escalating issues to supplier quality and provide technical support to the supplier quality engineers.
  • Responsible for maintaining ISO standards and support the certification for our factory Quality system.
  • Compile and write training material and conducts training sessions on Workbench and other programs.
  • Quality Inspection of incoming goods (IQC).

Scope and Impact of Position Responsibilities
  • This position has overall responsibility for delivering Quality Initiatives and driving Quality throughout Regensdorf Operations, within budget and adherence to established quality targets resulting in satisfied customers and achievement of defined revenue targets for individual projects.  Also, serve as a resource for NPI or other functions having a quality/process problem and facilitate quality related activites.
  • This position significantly impacts X-Rite’s ability to be competitive in the area of Manufacturing. This position also lays the foundation for the factory to achieve world-class quality.

Job Requirements


Background and Skill
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline preferred (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing) or minimum of 5 years of experience in a Quality role.
  • Formal training in quality planning, tools and analysis (Geometric Dimensioning Tolerancing Training preferred)
  • In depth knowledge of quality principles and tools (problem analysis, statistical tools, design of experiments, reliability, control charts and other quality methodologies) with the ability to train others.
  • 5 years’ experience in a development, manufacturing or quality environment including experience in leading cross-functional teams.

Working knowledge of various manufacturing processes preferred; Testing, measurement and assembly processes.
